Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Complaining why???....

I see a lot of complainers here. Why??? Enbridge is still employing you. You still have a good paying job, so why the gripe? Consider yourself fortunate in these trying times.

I was worried about my living situation when COVID-19 hit. What if I lost my job? I was fortunate to be accepted for the early retirement option but that doesn’t mean I’m in a position to be financially viable to take early retirement. In any case I decided to risk it and accept it. My decision, my life.

So for all the complainers out there who are employed by Enbridge and are so disgruntled, why don’t you just quit? Enbridge at the end of the day treated me right. I think it treated all the employees right, giving them choices.

Like that old saying “s#i5 or get off the pot”. Be thankful you are employed by Enbridge right now. If you are that unhappy just walk away. Plenty of other jobs out there, right?!

Another reason to stick around is you will belong to the FIRST COMPANY IN THE WORLD TO HAVE ORACLE'S CLOAD ERP .

Maybe the ELT can go for a ride on LE's ORACLE racing yacht. On the condition that Enbridge ELT has no crew duties. They don't want them to sink the boat!!

If you didn’t apply for VWO I think it’s difficult to understand. You had to go through the process of deciding to leave, planning your future after and becoming comfortable with leaving. That’s a lot to go through emotionally - especially if you’ve worked for this company for a long time. The week leading up to the notifications were extremely stressful knowing that mentally you had made the decision to leave. The process lasted so long that it had a bigger emotional effect. Now, after making that decision, and going through the anxiety of the waiting period being denied would be devastating. If you were never given the option so you never had to go through that process, things would be much different. But people were faced with making huge life changes and then told “never mind”. It’s extremely emotionally stressful.

And for those saying “just quit”, don’t you realize the key factor that drove people to even make the decision to apply was the financial compensation? Most people who work actually have jobs because they don’t have a trust fund to lean on. And quitting in this economy means you need to either be getting enough to retire or have another plan.

It was better than outright layoffs. I’m with the OP on this one. They did it right.. quit if you still want to leave.

So I guess when people voice their opinion about being unfairly mistreated and get shafted while others get "picked", that is complaining? Sure, go ahead and quit your job and walk away when 800 people just got a golden handshake and the same tailored severance that you were given as an "option". Its such B.S., this company should wake up and see how bad they have crushed the mental well being in recent months.....give the rejected employees another chance to exit the same way the other 800 did? You asked them to make a decision.....well they did, so honor it.

Noticed accidents were up wonder why. People have lost focus and just going through the motions because they feel screwed and have no motivation. Retirement age people should ha e had first choice.

That 40+ year employee has like 8 weeks of vacation and is complaining about being forced to take 4 days off? STFU and retire already. It's old slags like you and your horrible attitude that makes this place miserable. You're like a toddler having a tantrum. Nothing can please you even if it's something you actually wanted. Let's say the company went ahead and processed your application - you would b–ch and moan the whole time about anything and everything.

Just quit your job, effective immediately, and rid yourself of this terrible experience and so that we can be rid of people that don't want to be here.

I agree. Stop complaining or leave and go somewhere you’ll be happier. I didn’t get accepted either, but I knew that when I applied, I might not get it. I’m happy I still have a job, and if anything, feel like it’s more secure now and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead. Put it behind you and move on!

Imagine how engaged the 40+ yr employee will be after losing the lottery to the 15 yr employee, the 40+ yr employee doing their current role as well as taking on additional workload due to all the vacancies( and possibly some of the workload of the 15yr employee who just won the lottery) and at the same time taking a forced pay cut and mandatory forced long weekends.

Exactly, if you weren’t approved then you would complain too. Enbridge hurt a lot of employees with their dumb lottery idea and not allowing early retirements first. Now many highly paid, experienced, and loyal employees feel like they were screwed over and Enbridge has been silent.

Nope.....you have it wrong. If I hadn’t been approved I’d still being doing the same old thing. I’d still be choosing the best perennials for my garden.
