Has anyone that has left via the VSP or Layoffs found much work? If you are looking best of luck if you have not. Just wondering how it is out there.

When the kids go back to school, I’ll look for something. Until then, the VSP money is there to help me focus on them and navigating through our COVID world without Oxy in the way. Best of luck to you all. I hope you find other industries, as OG is starting to look like newspapers 10 years ago.
LOXY here, work with data. Unfortunately I was placed in a role which was not eligible for the VSP so I couldn't. I've been aggressively apply since the announcement of the pay cut in March. The past few months have been crickets but about 3 weeks ago a few of the companies that I applied for called back. I had to juggle 4 interviews within 2 days because I just wanted to get done with them quickly to hear a response. Honestly, I was given an opportunity with much better pay and title from a smaller company than some of the other people I've talked to about salary. I hope the best for everyone in this situation whether you stay or go, do what is best for yourself and your family.
“I wouldn't hire a manager from Oxy. Its like a medical degree from the Caribbean”. You got the point! Most are chosen as part of inners circles, some just sons of managers, others friends or acquaintances of VH. Most yes-mam sayers and technically deficient folks who are so afraid of losing their job because they know their skills are non-transferable outside Oxy’s cronyism. Hope I can get rid of them in August.
@3fod+15IrI6S8, that's similar to what I've heard. For example, in one of my recent discussions a few weeks ago with one of the big 4 firms that we're working with, the topic shifted to Oxy. 5 or 6 on the call said they worked with Oxy in the past 5 years, and described it "off the record" as such a horrible and backwards company, especially at the upper management levels. While I hope Oxy does well for all the LAPC'ers still there, and I'll always be thankful to Oxy for my nice fat bank account, I've heard first hand a number of times how Oxy is considered an absolute joke across much of Houston. I'm so thankful I never really experienced Oxy at all and was able to leave late last year with the CoC. Based on this board, I feel for the good people still there. I hope things recover soon, so you can move on to better places, and leave Oxy far behind. Good luck.
LAPC here. In two of my interviews with other O&G companies, I made clear that I worked for APC and NOT OXY. The terrible deal has left a bad taste in the mouths of those in the know for anything OXY so the conversation quickly turned into relaxed banter and horror stories from the interviewer regarding their dealings with OXY.
To date I have received offers from each but am considering retirement.
I left with the VSP, and was lucky to have multiple offers, but none of them were in the industry. Since February-March, Oil & Gas jobs have pretty much gone away, and jobs outside the industry are few and highly contested. I know lots of friends and previous colleagues who are out of work now, and struggling to find anything. It'll come back someday, but my guess is that Houston will be harder hit because of the Oil & Gas industry. I don't see that coming back anytime soon. Good luck to you all.
It has been tough. The interviews are few because noone is in the office, everyone does the minimum, and companies dont have the cash to pay out. So any jobs you accept is probably going to be on a discount.
@uqi+15IrI6S8b Enron was chicanery at the highest levels. Oxy is a rotten culture all over.
I wouldn't hire a manager from Oxy. Its like a medical degree from the caribbean. Its not venom, just once you've seen what it takes to rise at Oxy and what type of people do, why would you want to repeat that elsewhere? The jobs I hire for don't need paper pushing a– kissers.
Laid off in January. Applied at several places in January and February. Only one interview with over 250 applicants. No offer. Since then, no hope until this pandemic and oil recover. Looks like a change in career is the future.
Not great. Get a package before you leave to ride out the downturn. Oxy was quite suffocating in the end, but that depends on who your managers are.
I was able to secure a job 1 day after my VSP was accepted, however, it was out of industry. Renewables is a great place to look.;)
Good luck and stay positive. If you really can’t shake your negativity- it is time to leave.
That is just bitter talk. People will look at people for their individual qualifications. Should we say all people at Anadarko would not be hired because they are s-xist. That was a couple of executives in Denver that made them look bad. I don't buy that people associated with certain companies don't get jobs. Enron was as bad as they come, and those guys got jobs all over. Your venom about Oxy is just stupid.
