Could you get unemployment if you are Laid off? Someone told me that I could be denied unemployment benefits even though I did not quit the job. I want to call my manager about this, but I don't know if I should. Any thoughts?

Apply Unemployment right way. Receive severance once you signed approximately 4 to 6 weeks. So you do not need to sign the form right away to get the severance. Make sure you apply unemployment after 30 days to receive the severance. ( New York only). By the way, pay tax, so the severance will take out almost 40% before into your bank.
Lay off can claim. Your good.
Keep collecting unemployment, when you get the severance then you declare it.That’s usually a question it ask you if you received any severance the week you claim
Before( last years lay-offs) you could not claim unemployment till after your severance was completed. Not sure if this is the case this time around.
Just continue to collect. You won’t loose it and Macy’s will not Deny it
It varies from state to state, in regards to being able to collect unemployment if you received a severance package. So yes you are entitled to receive unemployment in some states. I would make sure because if you can't and you do, then you may have to pay it all back if you weren't suppose to.
Just continue claiming as usual.
Do we have to file again for our unemployment benefits if we go from furlough to lay-off? Or just continue claiming the unemployment benefits?
Can you claim unemployment if you get a severance?
It was a involuntary separation you most definitely are entitled to it!
You are absolutely entitled to unemployment benefits that’s what it’s there for.Don’t be misguided Management isn’t there for you anymore.
Don't bother calling your manager. They don't know either. Not their job to know. Your state unemployment service will tell you the truth.
You were definitely told wrong. Don't listen to people who are guessing like this person apparently was doing. FILE.
You are good. Just claim fun employment.
You may file for unemployment. Macy’s will not contest your claim
If you lose your job due to no fault of your own, you cannot be denied benefits. You were told wrong.
