Thread regarding Parker Hannifin Corp. layoffs

They have a history of lay-offs

I worked with a company 17 years before Parker purchased them. Parker came in and turned the place upside down Instituting multiple Philosophies on “who you be more efficient “. That Generally equated to about eight hours per employee of wasted time reiterating what they already knew on a daily basis. After a few years of watching lay-offs and being giving additional duties, I started looking for another job. I soon found one at 40% more than I was making. I tried to warn others that Parker was setting us up to be let go as well. Almost 1 year to the day after I left , they let all my office friends go. That company puts in a big show on how they are family. Not true. You can give them 30 years and your soul but they will drop you like a rock. You are just a number to them. Their Hubris is Remarkably troubling.

Curious as to which division or site you worked. I agree with you somewhat; at one point in history (for a long while), PH was a family oriented environment – meaning we all felt like a part of the Parker family. Then there was a significant change at the top and within some divisions. Acquisitions were made and many decisions were made in haste, without true analysis of where the synergies and cost were most rewarding to the company. Many lifers were let go, and along with them, went decades of product knowledge. Most decisions seem to be made for the perceived cost savings, without supporting data. Truly sad for the many who committed their careers to PH. Glad to know you found something better, including more financially rewarding. Congrats.
