This is by far the most toxic management team (CFO) that I have ever experienced. The blame is incorrectly pointed at the CEO. It does have some merits, but it is the CFO (G$malley) that is truly the problem! He Literally yells and cusses at people on a daily basis over the most absurd things (i.e. punctuation in an email addressed only to him), throws documents back at you he does not like, and dismisses you with a backhand wave as a king would dismiss his subjects. His volatile nature is unpredictable and depending on his mood you could be chastised at any moment regardless responsibility. He forgets what he has requested (along with minimal guidance), and then when you fulfill that request he will rip into you if he had changed his mind or had a different idea. When you tell him that you followed his direction, he will spend all day trying to find support that you were wrong and not him. If he can't find that support (which he cannot), he will never apologize and find something else to attack you for. After years, you learn to never expect praise of any kind as he considers that a "weakness" and ridicules people for coddling when they praise their employees. His ego is propped up by putting people down either in meetings or behind their backs. At least with the CEO you know what to expect, but the CFO changes his expectations on an hourly basis and expects you to know that he changed them. He does not schedule meetings but expects all his employees to be on call at all times regardless of what they are working on at the time. Many times while people are in important meetings, he summons them to his office for a question that easily could have waited knowing that they are in a meeting. "I don't wait for anyone" has been his response. This is absolutely embarrassing, disrespectful of peoples' time, and demeaning to all parties. What's worse is that everyone knows what a horrible person he is and they just deal with it because the pay is good... referred to as "hazard pay" for dealing with G$malley.
The Board should look at what value he has actually provided to justify his $1M+ salary (higher than most Fortune 100 CFOs) and then millions in bonuses on top of that! If you are considering taking a position at Tutor under the CFO... DO NOT!! No amount of pay is worth working under him. If you are currently there...GET OUT! I wasted way too much of my life dealing with him and pride and respect is worth way more than any salary they could offer.
