Am I missing something? Wasn't their a lot more employees before the 2009 layoff? In my opinion the union might be a thing in the past. Jobs going to Mexico. Union people keep saying if it wasn't for the union we wouldn't have the wages. First of all to build a start up program it takes professional mechanics. They know that. I see the future of Textron only being a final assembly. Why because they said that. So back shop goes to Mexico and final will eventually be contractors. All negotiations always come out just like the company wants it to meet their goals. Look what happened to Boeing Wichita. So good luck to all who think you might work there forever. By the way keep paying those dues. Layoffs in July.

The 3 exemptions do not apply to textron aviation due to the fact that it is a combination of companies and a pandemic is not classified as a natural disaster. You are correct, a little research goes a long way.....

Textron filed for 1,950 head count reduction....so far 250 have been cut, where do you think the 1,700 that have yet to be cut come from? They've already given notice to the SEC... people.

If you read the federal WARN act, Testron has an option to layoff without notice due to the so called pandemic. The are actually 3 exemptions in the WARN act & Textron could invoke 2 of them. Which means they CAN legally layoff without advance notice. A little research goes a long way!

Can't wait to see the strikers just sit outside the fence after the contract expires. Absolutely no reason to have another contract. None. Wait them out and rehire the good ones. Just might get a good deal on a Harley or a jet ski soon.

The union protects the ones that couldn't keep there job on their own...every department has them it's the ones that have seniority and throw it in your face problem is management won't do their job to document and get rid of them it's a bunch of c-ap all the way around, but dont worry one of them will comment about this to prove everyone is right .

Please converse about the layoffs. Go find another site to b–ch about the union. By the way, you're completely free to go work at a non-union shop. See how that works out for you. And if think working hard then the company will take care you, my advice, stop taking mind altering d–gs. The company only cares about getting you to think the company cares.

show me a person wearing a union shirt, or one that is always complaining and i will show you a bad employee. its the same for people that always have problems with the bank, its always someone that can't manage their money.

I'm a newer employee and I'm in the union. I'm so disappointed in the union. They only bring division in my area. They like to gang up and not be the leaders. Just be a burden on others. So much confusion on the voting. Nobody new the reasons for voting yes or no. I think I'd rather save my money.

You should be proud to work for Textron, no matter if you’re at Cessna, Beech, or another facility. Most people want to do a good job. You’re always going to have those that seem to get rewarded for doing nothing, but trust, when I tell you, that’s on them. Others see it too. You work to make a better life for yourself & family. Take pride in what you do. Titles don’t make a person. The Company will take care of you. If this is not your experience then you’re missing out on opportunities. People will come and go; so get use to change. Most changes are for the better. Don’t lose yourself in the politics. This is not your life; it’s your job!

Boy I agree. Management ain't got a handle on nothing but numbers. They should get those layoffs going now. Make the rest of the lazy bunch work or get out!

You hit on the head. I have never seen such poor management of employees. Now the workers and crew chief run the show. Managers are secretaries. Afraid of telling people to get to work. Ten years ago it would have taken 60% of what we have in employees today to do the work we are doing. It sure didn't help to have a lot of the Beech employees come aboard. Hell they don't even know the specs. Build it however they want. Beech and or new Cessna employees just aren't being held accountable for nothing. Most aren't proud of what they build. Just want that paycheck and go home. Its sad!
I do agree though with everybody about needing some benefits like insurance. Hell all we have is major medical insurance and that really s—s. I'll do my part to work hard for that. Time always tells. I wish I was in charge of this mess of employees. I'd do what Spirit did when they took over. Good luck Textron

I’m sorry. I’m confused here. Wasn’t the union established to help the workers? It was established to give benefits and fair wages for those that weren’t receiving them. It wasn’t established to make crazy demands on corporations so that you can guarantee your job and only work the minimum. My husband goes to work every day with the mentality of “I’m putting in an honest days work”. For him that means beating his goals every day. For others, that means meeting the minimum. I’m asking you to put yourself in the CEO position. If YOU owned a company and couldn’t make profits during downward spirals, who would YOU keep?!? Would you keep the one that told you they banned with others to get an easier path? Or would you keep the ones that clearly are “above” that? You know who I’m talking about. The ones who want more money, more time off, more benefits, more this and that... I know who I would want. I would want the loyal workers who stood behind me and my company during hard times. It’s not rocket science. But, hey, you’ve got your Union. God Bless America. We need it!!!!

They are going to layoff sooner due to Covid in the plant. This is only round one. After the VRP is round 2.

Layoffs will start on the 6th of July after everybody comes back from the 4th "shutdown " which will be a furlough due to the company not informing their intent early enough.
