Is this round of the semi-annual layoff plan complete? If so, does anyone have a count, of employees or percentage?

I got laid off last year because they decided to cut based on project, rather than skill set... I was offered jobs in other areas of the company after being made to interview again, but I chose to leave, and I'm thrilled I did. I as there a long time... and it was good to work for a place without incompetent management who are each other's cronies

I saw a few people on Linkedin "last day at Bose". Bose has a new president (not CEO, but COO). He certainly wants to show people who is in charge and how he can turn around the company . There is no bonus this year any way. He is a finance guy, not an engineer. So many people doubt he can really turn around the company. Many companies are downsizing, Bose was already in bad shape before COVID 19, so I agree the layoffs would happen even without COVID. There are many structural problems at Bose, many bad decisions were made after Dr. Bose passed away. There are so many useless managers, program managers. From individual contributors to president, there are 8 or 9 layers. Some managers have only 1 or 2 direct reports. Do you really need one manager to "Manage" another individual? Many managers do nothing but go to meetings every day, looking
busy. Bose needs to cut at least 3 layers of "Managers" to be more efficient.
Lots of investment on Bose AR, end up with a failure. Move to Boston landing while the offices in FMH are becoming emptier.

Yeah, these layoffs are not because of COVID. Even before COVID they were talking about a dramatic scale back in company size. COVID was a good excuse to skip out on giving bonuses though.

I worked there for 14 years and was laid off this week. Retail is going away next March and I really thought my supply chain role would be good until then. I was very surprised by the news. I counted at least 35 people in my division. I'm hearing approx. 700 people were laid off, but there certainly could be more. The company says it's Covid-19 related, but as someone who has been through years of these lay-offs, I attribute it to extremely poor management.

40yo is one "protected class" and one trigger for the disclosure to the person laid off.
https://www.eeoc.gov/age-discrimination

Having received one of these and knowing others who did also, it appears they are not at a "division" level, but at a lower organizational level within the division. Mine was several pages, showing ages, M or F, and titles/grade. No names of course.

I believe you get it if you are 40 or older. Not sure if you get for just your division or all of Bose. It’s a legal requirement. It gives titles and ages so you can determine if age discriminated against (very difficult to prove in any company btw).

Just an interesting piece of info regarding the list of ages affected. Only employees over a certain age receive this list. Last year when GDE was dismantled I didn't get this (under 40), but know others that did. I'm not sure what the actual age cutoff for the letter is though.

"Bose needs to be more transparent, at least to employees. At least Sonos announced 12% publicly.
Sonos is a much smaller company , with fewer than 1500 people. When a Bose employee is terminated, he receives a document that lists the number and age range of employees impacted. Bose wants to prove they are not discriminating older workers, although in fact it certainly does. Even if someone can survive this layoff, who knows what's next. Layoff becomes a annual routine for at least 5 years, a few hundreds every year."

I have no idea how many were impacted overall. It's very hard to know. It's very sad and frustrating. Within my group I'd estimate 10%.

It’s been a sad week for the company. So many talented and loyal people gone.

"Blood Bath" sounds scary. Fortunately, most people stay home. "Blood bath" will not happen literally.
It feels worse than 2009.
