As soon as one declares the severance the $600 payment along with other unemployment benefit stopped till the severance weeks are over. So if one had been longer with company, would loose more for the soon ending federal payment. TWC also wants all the money they paid for furlough weeks from March onwards. Their system also gets confused going from furlough transition to layoff putting things on incomplete status or hold which is ridiculous. Hours and hours of holding on TWC phones.

I appealed this and they are investigating. I was told that I could not claim for 26 weeks, which is what HAL paid me for my separation package. It appears that there is a play on words, with what is considered an agreed separation package and severance? Where if you agree to accept early retirement and or agree not to take HAL to a labor court in your separation agreement, in this case, Iam told we should still be able to claim unemployment?
I reported the amount on the package on the date it was deposited, they called Monday 6/29 as part of investigation and Just received letter for the repayment order (dated June 30th).
If they are asking for furloughed weeks to be paid back you should appeal that.
The last two weeks of TWC unemployment claims were denied as not eligible so also did not get the federal payment.
Till now TWC is making pay back the weekly unemployment benefits that they paid but have not yet mentioned about the federal one to be repaid.
TWC has asked to return back furlough unemployment benefits paid too starting March, 2020 onwards for alternate week work schedule for North Belt Houston location.
How does that work? Do you continue to request payment until your weeks of severance is up?
Got hit with the repayment order on Friday. Pretty annoying but it is what it is.
I reported the amount on the package on the date it was deposited. I received a letter stating I would not be eligible to collect unemployment for the number of weeks on the package. There was a slight delay in when they processed it so they paid me for 1 week which I will have to pay back. I am going to continue to file each week to keep it active and they will take that out when I can start collecting again. I assume everyone is still entitled to the $600/week until the 31st of July since that is Federal and not State. For everyone who is being released now, make sure you report that severance pay as they will find out and you will have to repay back any amount they paid you during that time.
Are they making you pay back the extra $600 also?
