Thread regarding Enterprise Rent-A-Car layoffs

Culture is DOA

I too am deeply disappointed by the way this was handled. Your mission statement- putting your customers first, employees second, and bottom line profit will follow has been exposed for what it really is. Profits and upper management grossly overcompensated paychecks are first, better put up a good SQI score second, and if you’re lucky you can keep your job. You’re just like every other greedy corporation, you just have a better PR program in place. Congratulations on k–ling the culture and the company that Jack built!

I left Enterprise after over 20 years. I retired and left on my own. I saw the company begin to fall apart after a while when Andy took over it eventually to Chrissy. The problem is that the Taylor‘s are not following the principles that Jack built on the company. It’s an awful place to be, people get up every day and are scared for their jobs and this along with the 2008 along with the 9/11 terrorism we’re just examples of what I term as opportunities for enterprise to get rid of people and reduce peoples pay significantly. The principle of the culture of the company, the mission statement are and have been gone for a long time. I feel so bad for many people that have left or been left the company in these situations. For me it was a good career for a long time but ultimately you have a lot of greedy people at the top that have been given autonomy to make really bad decisions. At the end of the day that falls on the Taylor family allowing that to happen. I believe if Jack was still alive he would be mortified as to what’s going on and how people are being treated. I for one travel a lot, I would be considered a road warrior and I will not rent from Enteprise or National Car Rental because of the situation and how it was handled. I have status on other rental car companies and quite frankly it doesn’t make a difference at the end of the day who I rent from. The level of service and the employees are the same regardless. All of the cultural pieces that they fed us and we bled green for so many years thinking that we were better than everybody else is just not true. The best move I ever made was leaving Enterpise. I remember being at an Orlando meeting before it was in Orlando and having my first opportunity to speak with Jack 101. It was a pleasure to talk to him and I can only tell you that he really wanted to make sure his employees were happy because he knew at the end of the day that when he has employees are happy, successful in making money ultimately they will provide the highest level of service. The SQI or ESQI pieces were a joke and way too much emphasis was placed on that. Again another way for Enterprise to get rid of people by one measurement in that overall success. I wish all of my friends and former colleagues at Enteprise all the best. They were next chapters in their lives will be companies that would appreciate the great people that they are and they will have lots of opportunities for the future.
