I know of three people laid-off, but no one knows how many. My guess is around a hundred out of 500 people, many with 20+ years. It's the hush-hush part that is disconcerting because they are corporate, so everything goes through hundreds of lawyers. True to corporate functions, the lay-offs were in the middle of the week. I'm very glad this site is anonymous. Wish I knew how to tell others about it so the updates would be more in-line with an accurate perspective.

Wonder if they will list phantom Japanese employees to meet the Suffolk county tax break. Employees that they cut are the local taxpayers that gave Canon the tax break Yowza.
They laid off a large amount of people in Melville NY HQ in May and it was stated to me by a friend that they are restructuring because there in dire financial situation and the positions were eliminated. They are doing it week by week some groups at a time during Quarantine knowing it would be easier to do it and give sub par severance agreements with of course heavy confidentiality agreements. (Why so quiet). It was stated they will meet there employee count requirement in Suffolk, NY but will not exceed it and that they rely heavily on expats.
I am a New-Hire ish. Me and a handful of guys went to new hire orientation for Canon Solutions beginning of this year. We all were laid off in april. And they are extremely hush hush as to whats going on.
I heard it was a big round of layoffs at Canon CITS Albuquerque which isn't surprising since it been two years since there have been any new hires.
I agree with everything mentioned on this thread. It’s disturbing how hush-hush Canon laid off employees who have worked for the company for 25+ years.
NY HQ also had a round of layoffs of long term employees in the last few weeks,
This is unfortunately the Canon way to let go longer term employees. That’s why they lack talented people and lose money now. They can’t cut back in NY Headquarters because of their employment commitment to continue getting NYS tax credits.
