H1B is temporary. Companies apply for GC if they want to keep the employee which is a very expensive process with months of external law firm cost so companies like IBM really only does it if they absolutely need the person.

Hello, Folks in US have been suffering due these CEO's moving jobs to India and China. Folks in US are also humans. Why keep hiring H1B's and at the same time laying off local folks? Trump needs to put a moratorium on H1B's for the next 3 years or until the employment situation improves in USA. It does not do any good to the morale of local workforce. H1B by definition is temporary work visa ONLY, not a pathway to permanent residency.
Glad to hear cuts happened in China... we should really not employed people there... they steal.

Let's refocus our energy here. It wasn't the workers in these other countries that took our jobs from us. It was the management here in the US who gave our jobs to them. The anger should be towards Ms Rometty and Mr Krishna, who planned and executed this.
I doubt anyone here would have turned down your job in those countries if the tables were turned.

Lots of IBM China jobs were cut. Their last day was end of April.
It is not going to happen. They are cutting jobs in Europe and the USA instead.
