I used to giggle when I heard OXY say this. We have such a terrible reputation within the industry. I have friends at other companies that say what a pain we are to work with.

This type of negative attitude about the company as an operator is just wrong. In the international units over at least the past 25 years they have been prudent operators bringing low cost to the operations in a very safe manor. I don’t know about the domestic units but I assume the same philosophy is used towards operations in the always great USA.
Totally agree with you, OP. I always thought that was the dumbest slogan in the world, since not only is it not at all true, but try Googling “partner of choice” and see how many companies consider themselves “of choice” out there. So very unoriginal. I too have heard others in the industry say we were a pain to deal with, and my dad, who started in the industry in the 1960s with a supermajor, told me Oxy has always had an awful reputation within the industry, even back then, especially for how they treat people, their bully culture, and for their lack of integrity and ethics. Most of that due to the circus clowns that have lead it over the past 60 or so years. Their culture is NOTHING like that of the rest of the industry (I've worked for several oil companies). Since I left Oxy a few years ago, I cannot tell you how many retired senior oil employees/executives from other oil companies have asked me how in the hell I could have worked in that place, since their reputation has been so awful for decades. Time for this cesspool to stop circling the drain and just go on down. Too bad they are taking Anadarko with them.

We are the Operator with a choice: Bankruptcy. This is where VH and Board led us to. No Chazen or Icahn can rescue us from this deep hole

Why giggle? Why not try to improve things and make us the operator of choice? Grow up kid!
