Thread regarding Enterprise Rent-A-Car layoffs

With Hertz going into bankruptcy, does this help Enterprise?

In the short term, I think it severely hurts Enterprise car sales. The resale market is going to be flooded with tons of used cars now, driving down unit prices even more. Car dealerships will be able to name their price, and that's not good for Enterprise. The silver lining is that the rental market – especially at airports – could be helped by this move.

Comments, anyone?

Bankruptcy doesn't mean going out of business. Hertz will reorganize and eventually recover .

Really won't affect enterprise short term bc industry is disaster. Used car market going flood bc can't see airport travel till 2021.

Now long term if hertz shuts it doors or at least reduces less locations. Think see less local branches and less corporate airport locations

Hertz will still be around, most likely. If they sell off a lot of their fleet, that could hurt ERAC since they make more money selling cars than renting them. Man, I still remember when I first realized this ( or someone told me? ) and thought: we aren't a rental car company, we are a used car dealer!
That was almost 15 years ago, so things may have changed.
