Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Judging based on the number of comments here this is the biggest RA in a very, very long time.

This had to be prepared over many months.

I heard GTS was 40% US based and was being reduced to 5% - that’s 1 in 8 remaining - or 87.5% gone. How big was GTS?

My entire team was let go.

I'm going to make sure I get my fill of feel good all hands meetings before 6/22. Ten+ years at IBM and never for a day did I forget I was just a widget at the company. At today, it was no different. Good timing IBM–turn out thousands (?) of your employees into the worst job market in about a century.

What is this new CEO's pay? Is he being paid cheaply in order to cut cost...?

This was a BIG one. No doubt about that. And probably more to come as well.

As some have pointed out - not the best introduction to this new CEO. Who, by the way, was behind a whole lot of layoffs in GTS and other areas over the years. This is his style. He doesn't care a wit about the people affected. It's getting costs down - and that is why many of the jobs are being sent "home" to India. Makes him a hero here (on Wall St) and a hero there (for adding new jobs).
