Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

How does someone go from JG5 to JG4?

I am in an IT group in Houston. I have 6 years with Shell, (14 years in IT overall) all in JG5. Is there a set criteria to go from JG5 to JG4. I talked to my manager 2 years ago and got an ambugious response.

In this environment, it likely ain't happening for you, at least over the next two years. You'll be lucky just to hold on to your JG5 job.

IT and HR are the worst groups in Shell. Get out if you get a chance..

IT is sending all work to Manila and India. Very limited opportunities in Houston.

You can’t. You would have to apply for a jg4 job

Yes, there are some guidelines. It may be stricter/more competitive now though to make it harder to get promoted and the pay increase that comes with it.
