Thread regarding Apache Corp. layoffs

Working Virtual

Rumors are circulating that APA leadership is considering allowing non-essential personnel to work remotely indefinitely. Has anyone else heard this?

With so many companies (Twitter, Coca Cola, Google, Kiewit etc.) moving to a virtual work day it would be super cool if we could. My team gets more done by noon from working at home than in the office! And think of how much money it would save the company. It's a no brainier.

Can’t blame BP for Christmann. Apache built that!

The employees Apache acquired when they bought the BP assets in 2010 had a big hand in the demise of Apache. Common sense in every aspect of the company disappeared, especially on the safety, drilling, completion and construction side (guess that’s about all of them!) in the field. Budgets and keeping our costs low went out the window. We WERE just fine before they came on board and tried to turn us into another BP and ruined a great company in the process. The way we were doing business in the field had been proven very profitable and did not need to be changed but then again what did we know....we were just lowly field personnel!

Totally understand that. Agree.
Apache is a mess.

Absolutely BP is a better company than Apache but they are an integrated major with actual assets. Apache is a wannabe exploration company, always a step or two behind the times. Attempting to implement a BP business model in low cost domestic shale E&P is ludicrous. Try the BP model on 10,000+ wells that make less than 10 BOPD and see what happens next. Hide and watch. What a bunch pompous losers we have in charge. I long for Plank, Farris and the rest of the leaders that built the company. 50 years to build and 6 years to destroy . Successful companies in the Permian operate with boots on the ground and don’t try to run things remotely. Apache has c-ap assets and it has been apparent for years, look at the stock performance the last 5-8 years.

BP is a better company than Apache is or ever was. They are $20x the valuation of our flimsy outfit and they are here for the longterm. You are right that we have their cast offs in leadership but we could only hope to be talked about in the same circles. Apache is every bit the junk rating we have been given.

Give me a fkn break. Everybody currently working remotely at Apache is a d—beat and non-essential. JC, MM, DP, ME. What a joke!! The once-great company has been destroyed by these losers. These guys are trying to emulate and duplicate BP and their culture, even though the BP model has failed. I feel sorry for the legacy Apache guys that have to be force-fed this c-ap. I hope the heritage Apache employees that are a part of this farce and haven't spoken up can sleep at night. Have fun!

Allowing you to work from home will probably come as a justification for a permanent pay cut. Careful what you ask for.

If you and your team really get that much more done at home than at the office then I’m kind of amazed by your work ethic. Just in how backwards it is. You either have zero distractions at home or you just really hate being in the office.

More than likely you will be working remotely without a pay check. “Working Remote” for APA is code for more layoffs.

Also, APA is nowhere near those other companies. They have the money, smart leadership and technical acumen to make it work. We have JC and MM who operate the company like mo–ns and are headed to bankruptcy.
