Amazon is looking into possibly buying JCPenney. Looks like there is hope for JCPenney. Meanwhile Eddie is drowning the little that is left of Sears and Kmart.

Amazon's been opening a few retail stores, the JCP properties would be a shortcut to acquiring real estate that's already purpose-built for retail. IME their stores are physically in MUCH better shape than Sears/Kmart properties.
Amazon wants some of their property to convert to warehouses.
They know who a winner is and a loser is.
