@1rdk I agree, but I don’t even think they can get OMTs that want to use UP as a stepping stone anymore. More like a last resort. I’d expect them to focus more on FMTs in the years ahead.
For managers (OMTs), UP is just a stepping stone/pit-stop. Dump who you want. Most of us don't really care and aren't looking for a career with the railroad anyway.
In ten years or less, whichever railroad jobs haven't been automated will be contracted out and nothing posted here will matter.
What if the senior guy is the biggest pos of the group? What if people refuse to do their job or show up for work or take two hour breaks or.... Who holds them accountable? Their fellow union brother lead man?
All we need are lead men. Make the senior worker in the area the Lead Man. Problem solved.

Dumping all of the managers would leave control of the company, and therefore productivity, to the workers. That is the textbook definition of socialism, which is something that you modern working-class heroes are supposed to be against (except of course, when you stand to benefit, making you no different than anyone else).
All they want from these a– kissing managers is for them to say “YES SIR” and they are qualified no one p-ss-d off about getting passed up who would want to work salary and get their a– chewed out everyday!

If you haven’t realized by now those are the managers that usually shine. It doesn’t matter how weak they are as long as they know the UP Way, value tracks, and drink the koolaid they golden
