Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

Tampa Call Center to be closed!

Work from home has deemed the call center obsolete due to the higher salaries of the Union members. In May, Frontier will give 90 day notice to all Tampa employees. Employees will be allowed to reapply for their former jobs, but at a significant lower rate of pay. This has been first reported and Confirmed by Manbun Quarterly.

Well you can’t pay them much more than $12/hr or they will make more than some of the coaches....

There is a reason why they hire some really dumb people for call center work.

I was a coach at Frontier back in 2016. I quit and got a job as a drive thru manager at Checkers. Best decision I ever made.

It’s obvious the Union sold us out. How do I drop out of the Union? Just tell a union steward?

your pensions are screwed, if you want annuities you're fine, but remember you may just get 85% of what you are entitled. lump sum is gone. they say it may come back when they get out of bankruptcy. Good luck.

You are a tech supervisor???? Please make your lazy techs do their jobs. You people destroyed Frontier!

Well as Supervisor to my Outside techs, I must say that I have techs who go above and beyond. When my techs get to the door the customer is complaining about how effed up the call centers are. Especially a douche like Mike and Make Frontier great Again douche. I am a supervisor who is getting a transfer out of Florida. Because Mike and MaFa aren’t giving you the whole picture. So if you can transfer out of Florida do it now.

I don’t understand because the email they sent when they declared bankruptcy didn’t say anything about closing centers. What made them close Tampa instead of Deland?

I like how the demise of the Company is being blamed by some on the negative comments being posted on an anonymous comment board.
I’m sure the horrendous business decisions made by the management had nothing to do with it.
We will rise from the ashes like a Phoenix and take over the market led by the same incompetent company leaders that tanked the place, LOL LOL LOL
Kool-Aid anyone?

I know they have to give a 90 day notice of a change. Will they just give us a check for 3 months of work as compensation?

WHO IS THIS A$$ – Folks, folks, folks please don't get your panties in a wad! I control the center and this is the way this will proceed. All reps need to re-apply immediately. Technicians need to stop being lazy and scared and just get in the attic already and run that wire. If not contractors are knocking at my door”literally”. Coaches and supervisors you are the hardest working human beings I know. Listening to calls day in and day out with no lunch compensation is tough. I know! I have to actually pick up the phone and order Uber eats everyday (Real essential workers)! Remember when we asked you in your interview how well can you adapt to change? Welll now is your time to do just that!

I just got back to the office after doing some spot checks on my employees and I see this. I had a feeling this might happen. I’ve been stressing to my team the importance of setting the stage and maximizing each call. Look at the good side, you all will be able to interview for your job again. I just hope Frontier goes all contractors for the techs though.

The Union didn’t sell anybody out. Our intent is to provide good paying jobs, which is what we have done. Yes we allowed a lower wage classification to come in to Tampa, but that was only to keep the center open. We are your Union and we need you to keep paying your union dues. Don’t listen to these disgruntled employees on this site. The Union is the only one that can stand up to Frontier. Workers unite!!

When the last round of new hires came into the Tampa Call Center the union negotiated a pathetic wage with the company of approx $14/hr along with a very limited comp plan. You have to ask yourself why they let such cheap and low skilled labor into the building? Gotta figure that the company will use this to their advantage in the very near future. Bottom line IBEW sold out all their members futures with that decision. They will try to tell you they did it to keep the headcount up because they were scared that the center would be closed if they didn’t but then the company reallocated 100 chat reps in the building for the same job so basically they got outsmarted by Management.

Frontier could fix a lot of these problems if the just paid the techs less per hour. It’s not like they work hard anyways.

Wal-Mart pays $14.00 an hour Spectrum pays $15.00. You do the math. Sad. Try to raise a family on that.

Why close Tampa? Close Deland because we fix all of their problem orders.

Hopefully the union organized downvote campaign on this post is being done during your regular breaks and lunches! If you all could be as effective in your job dealing with FTR maybe your members wouldn’t be in this predicament.

by

They have used contractors to supplement them in the past so that’s a possibility. And since FTR doesn’t care about quality of work they wouldn’t have anything to lose.

I wouldn’t be surprised by this. There’s a reason Frontier won’t sign a contract with IBEW in FL.
