Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Does GE still need all Immigrant (H1B, L1) Visa

With all the doom/gloom of layoff, why does GE still need Immigrant workforce? Should GE stop sponsoring them and hire American first ???
I am so glad that all the Casholes from Italy are no longer in Houston

“Group manager who knows the process”, which process are you talking about? It’s obvious that you lack comprehension. Read the whole thread and try to comprehend what the discussion is all about. You are clueless when it comes to the type of visas that is being referred. Perhaps that is why you are no longer a ‘group manager’!

That sounds kind of racist,,, not gonna lie,,,
Jobs should go to competent people regardless of race gender religion or nationality
go back to the 1800s where you belong

If GE was managing this sh– show there wouldn’t be these massive cuts. They understand how to repurpose personnel to mitigate the loss of talent and use RIFs as a last resort. If you were to be laid off by GE your package would be pretty sweet. They did two months notice, 6 months of pay for severance, free career coaching, and free health care for 12 months during their RIFs. GE works hard to not lay off whereas Baker makes it their one and only response. They’re a lot smarter than the baker boys.

‘Anonymous’, The fact is one cannot get H1/L1 visa for the type of jobs that you are referring to. The folks sitting on sidelines is due to reduction in work, not due to folks coming in on H1B. So before you call it BS, please get educated.

@OP Take this garbage to Breitbart where it belongs. This isn't even GE's board. GE hasn't had majority shares in BH since Sep2019.

Last post is complete BS. Yes there are many more Indians and Chinese graduating with STEM degrees. However, in O&G there is plenty of AMERICAN talent sitting on the sidelines. The real reason they stay, is that it’s cheaper to hire a fresh out foreigner than an experienced American.

When it comes to specialized engineering and science skills, our local talent pool is quite small. While it would be great to hire local talents, we do not have a lot available locally. Hence we are forced to import such talents. Rather than moaning and bad mouthing, we should focus on developing our younger generation in areas of science and engineering so that we can stop importing talents in the future.
