Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Houston mismanagement

They have no idea how to run the international business. They treat everything like it's short cycle US land work and gives us a terrible reputation with international operators.

This downturn will send the eastern hemisphere back to the 90s. SLB will clean up here.

I lost a lot of respect for HAL when on a foreign assignment my Manager insisted we spend $300k to battle lost circulation on a surface hole because he wanted to look good to Houston. I called him out on this b—s—, since a simple $3 one-sack-solution of sawdust could plug the hole better at a drastic reduction in price to the customer. Needless to say, SLB took over the contract by offering cheaper and more effective solutions using sawdust, I was layed off and this Doh-banger got promoted to Operations Manager. I always wondered how he can sleep at night, but he is Egyptian!

The most important thing at HAL is your golf handicap. You need to work on it in a hurry. Good luck. Keep your head down.

It’s hard to compete, when we have competitors willing to flood the market. Halliburton, being a service company will always be vulnerable to such actions. We don’t stand alone, many will fall. If we could ever, as Americans ,could sustain our own energy structure, the picture right now would be different. Yes the covid19 was the primer, but the explosion would have been less if we dictated our own energy structure .

For almost 4 decades I have heard this non sense of overseas this or why don't they they they in every post. The overseas market in particular land based is just like north America. The service industry is more than sufficient competition. The problems are.
Halliburton structure.
National Oil Co
Ensure all of the royal family gets their part from their sponsorship.
Poor pricing leads to poor decisions. Some contracts are bid so aggressively that you can't afford to put new air in the tires.
If North America was completely dead the entire global operations would not be enough to put on another halacademy. And that my friend is why you work. Let's make Halacademy great again!!!!

I come to this site seeking wisdom from people with knowledge that can essentially give me some insight to my future as an employee of Halliburton. What I have learned is that there are few, if any, wise and forward-thinking individuals inside the “white” and “blue” collar community speaking on these post. Mostly people with attitude, egotism, and an anxiety disorder…WHAT?… I just found my wisdom! Halliburton will be closing the doors and letting everyone go soon.

Hal is a NA-focused company, and we're seeing the results of that one-trick pony. Everyone from top on down needs to remember this is a global business. We need a serious recalibration to.be competitive.
