Thread regarding Sysco Corp. layoffs

What will happen in the long run?

My dad was furloughed by Sysco but he doesn't seem too worried about the future, because he is convinced this is only temporary. But I've seen news of several companies that are laying people off for good and I'm worried the same thing could happen to him if this lasts longer than expected.

Does anybody here know what are the chances that ALL furloughed employees will be called back?

Thank you for the responses, I guess it's just sit and wait for everybody.

It all depends on the amount of business out there. When times are good Sysco is in constant hiring mode, at least transportation, and really can’t find enough employees. A huge amount depends on when the restaurants reopen and what capacity they can serve to. Schools reopening will help in the fall as well as stay at home orders being lifted will allow corporate kitchens to return as well. Nobody knows when, unfortunately. We’re all waiting. Best of luck to your dad.

Sweetie no one knows what will happen but it’s considerate that they furloughed him so he can atleast keep his benefits
