Regarding outsourcing/rebadging, Wade's meeting which followed Shirk's had some particularly offensive and, tbh, dumb commentary. Wade claimed to be deeply hurt by an outsourcing question asked but not answered in the prior meeting because in his view sabre isn't a US company that outsources but an international company. This is clearly nonsense if you look at the history of Sabre then the reasons for offices abroad. I think it's obvious that the primary reason for offshore presence is cost savings and not for any sort of strategic advantage.
Regarding competence, with architects but also including others, offshore employees are far from the biggest problem. The biggest reason is that sabre makes little effort to attract top talent, specifically salary and benefits wise. Second, there is practically zero effort to train up employees. Try getting approved for tuition reimbursement or going to a professional conference and you get laughed at.
