I love this company... I dont have to do anything all day because management screwed things up years ago and we literally have 10% of the customers in a city where we were the incumbent LEC and had 100% of the customers and if they magically find me something to do I just refer it to another group and hope it disappears permanently

Verizon is paying their techs hazard pay. They call it Essential Service Pay. But then again, Verizon makes money, so there’s that.

I assume all the comments bashing the technicians come from the couple of call center employees that haven’t been replaced by the $5 a week overseas outfits. If they could replace technicians or bus them in from the local temp agency like they do you they would. Fact is they can’t. So no need to hate I’m sure with a good amount of exercise and a very strict diet y’all could maybe get a chance to leave your beloved cubicle and maybe get a taste of an actual days work. Who knows you might enjoy yourself.

These techs are delusional. They think they are important. The only requirement for a tech position at Frontier is a valid drivers license. Basically, anyone who applies has the qualifications necessary to be a tech. LOL

You should start that out with “If they actually go out to the customer’s house”

The techs act like they have important jobs like doctors and nurses. Techs essentially go to houses and flip switches. They want hazard pay for want? Is is hazardous to sleep in your van? Is it hazardous to take 2 hour lunches? Contract workers would do 3 times the work for 1/2 the pay. Lots of kids at McDonald’s would love to get a tech job. In the meantime, please stop the nonstop whining.

I'm not going to get up on my soapbox and preach the benefits of our union to a bunch of simple minded cry babies that can barely tie their own shoes. Verizon employees of the same local you are in are getting hazard pay. Instead of blaming the company you work for, you simple minded dolt, you blame the union. Grow a set, and run for office in the local so you can make a difference. Otherwise sit your adolescent behind down and raise your hand for permission to parrot drivel you hear on conservative talk radio.

Lazy techs are only employed because of lazy management. If the so called local managers were allowed to leave their office and oh idk manage instead of being summoned for one of their 15 daily conference calls then maybe they could see what is going wrong. Instead they manage using nothing but a spreadsheet that hides all the B.S.

Union has bled Frontier dry. Lazy techs helped destroy this company too.

Am I missing something or is it just a coincidence that everyone complaining about their union doing nothing for them happen to be making at least $10 more a hour than the people that don’t have a union to blame for all their problems. The wonderful cable company’s employees would be happy to pay a couple hours wages a month to make $10 more an hour. Everyone complaining has never worked without a union and it’s sad you can’t see that you are spoiled. 90% of you wouldn’t last a week at a non-union job and that is 100% our problem.

Probably won’t have the problem for much longer. Cutbacks are likely, and you clearly hate your job.

No hazard pay, but being forced inside a customer's home. All they had to do was make a few calls, and the company backs up on the policy.

You aren’t going to get hazard pay when you work for a dysfunctional company that’s days from filing bankruptcy. The company isn’t interested in it. I’m not sure how you all think that this works, but unions can ask and bargain but these are not things that companies have to agree to do. If you’re surprised then I’m not sure you’ve been working at the same company as I.

Try just waking up and not brushing your teeth or hair and have to sit home taking calls. TRY THAT for a change!

Our contract s—s in West Virginia. I have been thinking of getting out of the union to save money on dues. They don’t do anything way.

Could be worse... you could fall under IBEW in FL and not even have a contract

Maybe it would be better for you if you were unemployed. Then you can swordtail about how your going to pay your bills like all the other out of work people. Waiting for the union for anything is pointless. They are completely useless. No matter what region you’re in. Especially CWA.
