Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

April 21st can't come soon enough

For those of us who volunteered, this waiting is difficult. Can our managers give a hint like "I think you will be offered severance" or "I won't stand in your way"? Will anyone be notified before April 21, or does everyone have to wait and be notified on the same day?

(BTW, everyone is stressed right now. Please be kind to all, whether staying or going, whether manager or contributor, in Krakow, Bangalore, or Dallas.)

Or, just throw the middle finger on the transition and quit now no severence. You have options.

I am confused by your it's all good comment. Can I get another job during my purgatory period to supplement my reduced salary? The main reason I took the package is in am p-ss-d about salary reduction and am now being told to deal with it for another 3 and 1/2 months?

Will almost certainly happen, whats even worse is its not just your boss that is thinking that but your bosses boss as well. You went from being not flagged at all to being a flaming flag ! Worst of all, you did absolutely everything the right way.

Don't worry about July end date. Just transition your work as soon as you can. Then be available for questions. They'll get used to you not being around. That's about it. You know that probably won't take until July. Accept it as a compliment that they think you know so much that you need to KT. And be happy about the extra paychecks. No need to cause a fuss. It's all good.

Why would ANYONE get denied ?
That has to be the absolute worst thing they could do. Now they have someone that they know doesn't want to be there.

Just dont do your job ? Worst they could do is fire you next year ??

So much stupidity

Got denied. Now I am wondering if my manager is going to backlash against me for trying to leave and try to find my backup.

Any suggestions on how to approach the people team in order to get that end date modified to something sooner? Is that even possible? I had originally heard that the end date was going to be end of May for the voluntary severance people?

I was told that applications will be confirmed by early next week

"Will my application be accepted?"
"Signs point to Yes."

Anecdotal evidence from one dev team shows about 10% volunteered. HR wanted more volunteers. Unless you have a unique skill that cannot be KT'd in 30 days, you may get your wish.
