Anyone know if you can get Texas Unemployment after you receive a lump sum severance?
Thanks.

100% you get unemployment if severed. Apply! Apache HR wouldn’t know. They aren’t actual HR professionals. They are all former administrative assistants who have no clue.
Apply for the unemployment. You can get it if you get the lump sum. Apache HR told me I could not, which was a lie and maybe if enough of use get fed up with their c-ap we can class action them for this.
Can't get Texas Unemployment to answer the phone. Recording says waiting on employer response. Noone in HR is responding. This mess never ends. Need help.
Well, in some cases Apache is paying you for a specific time period AND is paying you to release them of liability. There are several people I know of who were let go in April, but whose termination date is not officially until May and who are still getting paid regular wages until that date (and will presumably get a severance payment after that date). The State knows when you get paid regular wages (called wages in lieu of notice—-that is what affects the timing of when your first unemployment check will arrive.
Absolutely. Be careful of the wording. I reported my severance but ... This is not Apache paying you wages for any specific time period. They are paying you to release them from liability. Very different.
So as long as you report it as release of liability, which is what mine was. You will be ok.
this is a good link to read if your unemployed:

Its part of the CARES act. Anyone essentially unemployed gets $600 a week on top of their state unemployment.
Heres the act to read.

What is the federal 600? How do you apply?
Yes, you should get the additional 600: regular unemployment is from the state, whereas the extra 600 is from Federal
Are you sure about our eligibility for the additional 600? Not sure if we're considered to be affected from Covid directly
yes. and should be able to get the stimulus on top of your unemployment ($600).
Not specific to apache but yes. I've gotten unemployment before after receiving lump sum severance
