I work at U-Haul. There have been no layoffs at U-Haul. Checked with multiple long time management folks - these two recent posts saying there have been layoffs are bogus. Not sure why somebody would say that there has, when clearly there hasn't been. Check Google. Nope. No layoffs.

Whoever posted the original post is lying on behalf of the company. while they might say there were no layoffs we were LET GO because of the corona situation which means we received NO severance and were ultimately terminated with no recourse. Joe Shoen must need to buy his wife a new rolls Royce this year despite the government loans to keep them in business.
And yes, the above poster who said only Joe, Stuart and Sam's pals keep employment is correct including their spouses and kids while the rest of us lose our pay and insurance

It would seem that some are being dismissed as layoffs, and some are being discharged as firings for alleged attendance or performance issues. I wonder how many of the layoffs (or what percentage) is made up of those who work from home?

I was work from home service and support for uhaul, been working from home for over a year. laid off yesterday.... and my manager told me he was making a LOT of calls. Lots of lay offs happening.
I was told on Thursday that my last day was Friday because they are worried about losing money due to Covid-19. If you work for U-Haul and you're not in upper management (like related to a Schoen) start looking for a job. YOU'RE Screwed!

Well, I'd say 100% there has been layoffs. Since I know quite a few people let go. The actual total is hard to know, but I know at least some. Your management sources are either out of the loop, or were told to keep it secret.
