Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Essential = working outside of your home

Using "hazard pay" loosely for simplicity.

Are corporations deemed “essential" being given subsidies to help with the increased pay for hazardous working conditions during COVID-19? (cause I am pretty sure that is what some cheap companies were waiting before they raised pay.)

Are they applying for these subsidies using the full number of eligible employees? For Example: company applies using the eligible number, 5,000 essential employees, but only pays 3,000 of those employees.

Are these companies allowed to be selective in who they pay "hazard pay” to?

shouldn't the number of employees used to apply for the subsidies be the same amount of employees being paid "hazard pay"

shouldn't an "essential employee" be an "essential employee?"

Shouldn't it be paid to anyone that has to work outside of their home?

just a few questions i have been pondering.....

Companies which receive Federal subsidiaries in the future (no one has received any yet) due to COVID19 will not be held accountable as far as which type of employees were paid premium pay. They will need to report to the Government the total amount of wages expended for COVID19 activities. In some cases it will be for straight pay for anyone performing a COVID19 task and in others it will be for a premium wage (incentive, hazard, bonus, exposure, peril, etc) for doing any task during the COVID19 period. The only thing the FED cares about with respect to reimbursement is if companies incurred additional expenses (in this case wages) due the COVID19.

I am an office worker, now assigned to work remotely from my home and I have been receiving premium bonus per 5 day work period plus a stipend to cover incidental expenses such as use of my home, electric, stationery supplies etc.
