Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Shame on Walgreens for treating us like this

The only precautions we've taken are minimal. Tape to keep customers 6 feet away, really flexible taped on plexiglass and has to be re-taped to the counter daily, we clean maybe once or twice a day, and we are advised to just use germ-x between customers. No gloves, and no masks provided. Our hours are now 9am-9pm, and we still get a steady amount of people in our store. Our pharmacy still remains open, and they still have 2 pregnant women working 10-11 hour days with no protection other than a mask. The bonuses are a joke, and we are pressured in to working even if we say we feel uncomfortable during this virus. Not only are we risking our health, but we are also risking our families when we return home. I get the pharmacy aspect, that people need their meds, but surely you could close the store front and provide DRIVE THROUGH ONLY? If fast food restaurants can implement that and still get business, I imagine other retailers could, too. What a ridiculous company. Making millions, but can only offer a small bonus IF and ONLY IF you stay until the end of April. What a joke.

Perfectly stated, @mkbu+13VzOPC5.

I worked at Walgreens from 2006-2012. When I was hired as a pharmacist in 2006, there was a shortage of R.Ph. and Walgreens treated all pharmacy personnel well. There was overtime for over 42 hours, mileage reimbursement if you took an additional shift at another store. I left in 2012, when I thought Walgreens really s—ed. Tech help was cut quarterly, R.Ph responsibilities and workload was increasing. I thought things were bad then but they seem really intolerable now. When I started I was hired at $54 per hour. After 6 years I was making $57. At the end increases were less than 2%. I am sorry to hear how pharmacy staff is treated.

I got screwed over on my bonus. Instead of receiving the full $300, I got $150. They worked me 30 hours for two weeks, 29 for another two weeks and 28.5. Kept me just under a 30 hour average. That was dirty. We all deserve the full $300. We put our lives at risk and worked Easter. Walgreens doesn't recognize Easter as a paid holiday. Corporate greed. You lost a loyal worker Walgreens. So disappointed.

Where is the money they keep promising us? They keep delaying when we will get it. Do they think we will forget the promise from them? They have us back to regular hours but gave stores fewer labor hours. Walgreens is a use, abuse, and throw away employees company.

I love how people talk bad about the company they work for and forget that thanks to that company they can put food on their tables and pay their bills. If they hate their company so much, why do they continue to work there?

PPPE is important at store level for cashiers and pharmacy technicians store personnel. Even though Walgreens employees are not all health care personnel such a nurses, etc. we are also in close contact with customers who are consumers for their pr-scrip-ions who could be ill or could have coronavirus, or are asymptomatic. Masks are important in customer service working with potential ill customers who might not know they are really that sick at all or just don't care to wear one. The asymptomatic customers are what we need to be concerned about and masks are needed to protect our employees. We should not have to wait on a truck shipment or rely on other nurses and doctors to provide them for our employees. I guess in that respect, it's the luck of the draw of obtaining one.
Not acceptable! If Walgreens employees are supposed to help to sanitize the store and be in close contact with customers at times regardless of the 6 ft social distancing , we should have the proper PPE to do our jobs well during this pandemic.

Limited supply of gloves at Walgreens and manager stated to be frugal with remaining gloves as store will probably not be receiving any more. So I brought in and wore (unused) doggie p–p plastic bags to use to cover my hands for disinfecting the counters , etc. I cannot believe that a pharm company can short change their employees and have them be fearful of coming to work without proper PPE. Shame on you Walgreens!
Have available gloves for your employees if you expect them to clean up the virus on your counters, shopping carts, etc.. Fearfully disgusting! Any hopefully masks you will provide per CDC recommendations.

Not every store has a drive thru. The Walgreens I work for has no drive thru. It would be easy for me to say that people should have to go to a Walgreens that has a drive thru, but not everyone will be able to travel miles to get to the nearest one with a drive thru.

I am sorry to hear that your store does not have any gloves. That is something that you need to talk to members of management about because gloves can be ordered at the store level. There is an expense list that has gloves on it. I recommend ordering large and XL gloves so they will fit multiple people. I order boxes of gloves every week to make sure they are available at the necessary stations in the store (front end, pharmacy, and by the bathrooms). As for masks, I unfortunately can't help you with that one. Masks haven't even come in the truck for over a month now. The employees wearing them at my store got them from people they know that work as nurses and doctors.
