What about OSP going in businesses like hospitals that have all the bridgers and LEs inside the buildings? no extra pay

We don’t get one call a day. We don’t have time to go in homes with multiple noise calls, SRO’s, power supplies, etc. It would be like you guys spending 4 hours on one service call when you were routed with 6.

Ok, osp will do that when you fix everything on the plant side that led all the way to the customer who is causing the problem. Maybe you should stop leaving $hit loose in the house.

1qmm+14iOpv8u i have never heard a customer say in all my years as a tech ,i had this nice gentleman here the other day to fix my issue and he came inside and fixed everything up and it ended up an osp tech. if anything i get this guy gave me this paper and told me to call and i ask you were home , oh ya he gave it to me at my front door . hell half the time i find the pad on a tc and the customer had no idea it was even on their line but yet they were having issues forever. so no problem no access i diont believe you guys even go into homes , dd yes diners yes but no way not homes so nothing new here.

We do way more than that. Especially when testing. And we get people off the street knocking on the truck, coming up to us and asking questions, etc. People dont get what social distancing is

Altice just announced that they're giving techs a 20% pay bump. Yeah big deal. Still doesn't change the fact that these guys are risking their well being

Until then I’m doing street side work only. Since I’m not a customer facing employee I’m not required to build any fiber enclosure that is located within the customers premises. I’m not knocking on any door or entering a customers property and putting myself at further risk than I already am by being outside on streets filled with people who don’t obey stay at home orders. ATS can have themselves a bunch of partially run/partially built/partially tested cells. No light? I’m verifying it to the JSO...anything after that and I’m touching surfaces that may have been touched by a customer facing employee who may have come into contact with the virus.

I’m not saying I’d go back to Field Service for 20% extra pay. In fact I don’t believe we should be doing installs at this time and trouble calls should be at the techs discretion. And even then a tech should be allowed to survey the home. Ask the sub to create a path to the issue and then sit in his truck. When the sub indicates that has been done. The tech can re-enter the home in order to restore BASIC services. That means one tv and internet. This isn’t the time to repair the line going to your second bedroom that no one uses. That should be field service procedure now.

Field service techs are putting themselves in far more danger than ftth techs. But to lump ftth in there with those who get to sit home and work from their computers is disrespectful. We have to go hone to our families every day wondering if we’re bringing something back with us. Even if you’d just given us 10% it would have at least recognized that.
