Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

Digital’s list has been comprised

The list has been submitted to HR for review.
We still don’t have a date on the execution of those that’ll be impacted but the numbers are not good.
Digital will be hit hard due to the businesses not resigning there previous held in place contracts to utilize GE digitals staff and tools. That being said they are still trying do do everything in there power to bring in new business but it’s not looking promising. At this point it’s just a matter of when SR Leadership decides to pull the plug and when I refer to SR leadership we’re not talking digitals Leaders but Larry C executive staff. I believe this will be taking place over the next few months. With the economic uncertainty GE is really strapped for cash and are looking at any and all ways to eliminate all unnecessary staff and office space.
Atlanta Wilmington Austin San Ramon are the locations being spun off or terminated.

Yeah, cuz offshoring works great for innovation. Jeezus, no. Mostly just keyboard clackers with no practical knowledge.

Wonder if it’s the people on list 1 or list 2

Not clear JE limited to engineering. There are large sales marketing teams, especially in power digital, that can be significantl;y reducced. Also levels of senior management to be compressed, esp in power digital

Hopefully it includes the bureaucratic dipsh*ts who came up with the initiatives and time-tracking that is handcuffing innovation in engineering.

Really need to think about specific segments also, and power digital should be the one hardest hit.

My worst case scenario for this round of layoffs
20% cuts in engineering in usa
With work moving to offshore
And in subsequent round another 20%

Well, the GED leadership hasn't exactly done a bangup job of advancing the business - very poor choice of leader made by Culp. Now everyone has to pay the price for it.

Sources indicated the "list" has been revisited and that impact >> than originally forecast. Ouch for GED

Maybe just shutting down the entire business would be a facile solution.

Downsizing has been in the works. Read previous posts from 2 months ago about 10% layoffs in Ohio and Michigan. SLT was already targeting people for layoffs and even looking to replace non productive remote employees before this pandemic started. GE has and always will have layoffs. Now Leadership doesn't need any further reason to get it done.
