In response to the attrition post..they're doing a fantastic job of harassing, bullying, and abusing their employees in an attempt to get people to leave. Must be too much work to gather info. to fire people or fear negative publicity from layoffs. This company is in the c-apper and I feel for the people who stick it out as things will only get worse.
I suggest everyone here who has a mediocre job they dont like or low pay to look elsewhere for a company that treats their employees like assets rather than unessential.workers.
When you look at other companies first look at their company culture and read employee reviews on glassdoor and elsewhere.

My old dept had plans to layoff 50% BEFORE coronavirus but after a wave in Feb they thought they could meet the rest of the goal through attrition. So for now no layoffs but they will get to 50% one way or the other. Plans could change of course but 50% is not just a rumor it is the plan for at least some segments of the business. I don't know that it would apply to all groups.

Company is still making money. They are strategically placed to continue supporting the clients. They’ve released new resources for employees if they’ve been affected by COVID19 as well as opened a special enrollment for adding people to the health insurance.

I’ve known multiple people in multiple departments who were let go. From the people I know the departments let very few people go. There are some departments where automation is taking place and in those cases I know of whole departments being removed.

I’d say if your job can be automated, I would be keeping an eye out for different positions. If your job can be off-shored and does not violate a clients offshore restrictions then I’d be looking.

For everyone else, you’re fine. Everyone I know that received a bonus this year, was the highest bonus they have gotten. Previously the highest bonus I received was $1500 but this year was close to $10k. This could be based on how your department and pay grade. But I was specifically told this would probably be the highest bonus i May ever receive in the role

I was told that there would be no outside hires allowed for a while this past week. I’ve learned this means a reshuffling will happen. I believe people will lose current positions but they hope to reshuffle into better suited positions. Some do survive and move, others don’t. Best of luck to us all. Keep well.

Don’t believe them. I was told the same thing since I was a high performer. But then my position was suddenly eliminated. I now have a union job so I have job protection.

You’re wrong. They are reassigning jobs that are being eliminated by state standards related to COVID-19. This is temporary and they will reassign jobs for now rather than laying off. This is fact not a theory

They are hiring new IP CareManagers and adding to teams that already don't have enough cases to go around to meet the productivity guidelines, and replacing people who left despite the numbers not supporting the staff. I don't know what they are doing, actually. Very strange.

We just had layoffs announced in the CastiaRx(Diplomat) line if business. They are closing all the CastiaRx sites and some are being let go 5/1 and 7/1. Really terrible but timing but Optum leadership is filled with really terrible people.

Hard to imagine 50% happening. However, what would millions of layoffs happening now do to company revenue? If millions no longer have jobs, which is bad enough, payments are no longer being made. Tanking revenue would have a large impact for any company.

LOL!!! 50% layoffs....what a clown you are. If you still work at the company you should be the first to go, if you are no longer employed by them, I can see why.

Does anyone think housecalls will be affected in the 4th quarter? I’m scared about my position even though many have told me not to be.

I heard that we are on a hiring and lay off freeze, but leaders are preparing plans to eliminate up to 50% of ALL UHG employees in 4th quarter if the projected numbers are correct. This means whole divisions will go, especially any area not directly related to OptumCare. Talk of pay reductions is also in the mix.
