Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Premium Pay

So FINALLY ATS gives premium pay to Field Service and it’s what; the Supervisors?!?!
They don’t leave the office!!!
Not to mention nothing for OSP, Construction, or the FTTH Department!
Those guys are out in the field also and come in direct customer contact!!!
Good Start ATS/AUSA, but if we’re All Essential, we ALL should get the increase!

All essential employees should get premium pay. Not all OSP, Construction techs are lazy. We are all under the same management who really don't care.

The premium pay is only in place because their application for emergency aid got approved. They absolutely will not give anything because of caring.

Guys and gals dont get lost in the hype. FTTH expose themselves and others every day as well. Remember, this is Corona Virus, way more contagious. You FS techs, dont think the gesture of premium pay is worth it. If you get sick or your family gets you are risking those 60 and older or those with underlying conditions. Most will recover. But even those who recover may have long term or chronic issues afterwards.
The previous email clarified they still wont provide you with a mask.

If doctors need them due to the amount of infected they encounter, then you FS techs need them as well.
CDC is saying for normal people who are on social distancing and self quarantine dont need masks. CDC describes more specific guidelines for employers who are considered essential.
Altice management, you need to be behind the 8 ball. You have multiple scenarios for your employee work environment. Do your research thoroughly. CDC has directed you to OSHA. If we can find these docs, so can you.

You techs are considered "essential employees" therefore the cdc requirements are different. Also guys be well informed. OSHA put out guidelines for companies that have employees at medium risk.

Also here, notice this is from the same paper we received to be out as essential.

All documents state PPE including masks.

They don’t care about OSP. It was clear that was the case when they started changing them to a revenue generating department. Rather than base the department off the performance of the system they are maintaining. Guess no more customer contact for OSP after SRO’s. And the amount of SRO’s being sent up is ridiculous because the contractors they are using don’t have the training to find the issues. 90% of the SRO’s are not plant issues. Then there are some OSP Guys, that helped build what has been destroyed, and won’t walk away from a customer out of service like the FS is being told to. What a crock. WOW. Just wow!

I don’t see any of that said in my email and that’s 2 separate emails actually. All I see is it’s a recognition program for customer facing . And if your trying to belittle a field tech and blow your head all up I’ll let you come and deal with the fu?king disease infested customers and do a beautiful A1 7 box install instead of your outage anytime .

Hold on a second, we are the ones going into peoples homes, coming in direct contact with the public 8-9 times a day. We do not get the luxury of getting a map and doing all our work in one shot, finishing by noon or 1 o’clock and then sitting or sleeping for 3 hours. Maybe you all should stop complaining over in the construction department and actually put in a full days work, instead of milking the company for non productive overtime. I’ve driven past and witnessed many of you construction guys sleeping or watching your phones at 2pm and then when I finish my house call I drive back 45-60 min later and your all in the same spot. Doing the exact same thing . NOTHING. Milking the Overtime is your 20%. Just maybe if your Sups actually came out and watched you worked or rolled up on you like ours do all the time they would know too.

According to the message sent out this evening the service techs also maintain the plant. When did this start? Service techs fix the outages and plant issues? That’s quite a skill set they command!

I’d much rather see non essential calls go out the window for the well being of everyone in the company. Then come up with a plan for these calls. If it requires someone to enter the home make sure the techs are prepared to enter and are willing to enter(pay these techs hazard pay specifically). How can we limit time spent in a home? Can the tech get a second drop up to fix the issue, can we video call these customers to walk them through a problem? There are steps we can take prior to entering a home and only those who are properly trained and willing to accept the risk will enter these houses. It will take more time and cost more money but it may prevent the spread.

Wait how is ftth customer facing . You just said you sit in a van all day and piss and c-ap in a bucket . Not sure about construction either our whole construction crew is on the project which is not customer facing and osp is osp cause they got sick of dealing with customers so not really ! The only people that are customer facing are fs techs and walk in center reps . Sorry the truth is the truth ! Do I agree not really but if they say customer facing that’s who it should be
