AUT - the risky APC deal had a snowball's chance in hell being successful even without your "perfect storm" of Saudis and Covid. No due diligence was done, combine that with EC pride and ignorance and the result is not only a "mistake" but a fatal one. VH needs to walk the plank.

I watched the news conference and all I could think about that VH was sitting next to Wirth at the table and Oxy paid CVX a 1.0 BILLION break-up fee.

If you really have known VH for 20 years, you should talk to her. She needs to resign and donate any severance back to Oxy.
And the unprecedented situation VH is dealing with was created by her own (and the EC’s) combination of greed, arrogance, incompetence and stupidity.
In any other oil company, VH would’ve never been promoted to any sort of executive level.
And if you look at the original merger plan between OXY and APC, it does NOT hold up to any sort of scrutiny, even at its original market conditions. As Carl Icahn has suggested, VH and EC came up with the idea as a way to stay in power.
The nasty part of the whole deal is that legacy Oxy EE’s are going to get reamed much more than legacy APC EE’s. Nice job Vicki!
The seeds of OXY’s downfall were planted when VH brought the Apache Mafia into positions of power and she bought their BS hook, line and sinker. Most of the Apache Mafia were loudmouth men, who did not have any respect for her; they thought they were in control. 2nd issue is VH’s promotion of the Pink Mafia; promoting women no matter their skill/competence levels.
This whole mess was a train wreck long before the APC acquisition!

I have known VH for over 20 years. She is a good person trying to do a very difficult job in an environment that is unprecedented. She has a kind heart. She always has. She has integrity. She cares about her people. Yes, she took a gamble with the APC acquisition. Had the perfect storm not erupted...you might have been singing her praises. But now, we are not sure how this will come out. Regardless, I will say I am still glad she is at the helm. And I am happy to see SC is the COB as well. Everyone, what benefit is it to rant and rave? Does it help your health, your well-being, your situation? We are blessed to have a job in these times. We are blessed to have benefits. Even WITH the cut in pay. Look around you. There are people everywhere, including your family, friends, and neighbors who suffering more than you. Can you just stop and consider that ...and be grateful for what you have? I wish you all well in these times and when we are passed this.
