Finding it pretty sketchy that Parkland has 3-4 Calgary jobs posted right now despite having numerous staff on a "temporary layoff" Don't hitch your wagon to this falling star
I think Parkland gave temporary layoffs because they didn't have the cash for severance payments. this company is a disaster
I am one of those with "temporary-layoff" and EI payment is going to be well below my usual income every month; this is going to be very tough. I would have been better off with termination and a decent severance payment with my years of service I have put in.
I'm not sure that this temporary-layoff is even legal since there is nothing stated in my employment contract that would allow temporary layoff. It may actually be grounds for constructive dismissal which would force them to pay necessary severance in accordance with common law.
Anybody know how many temporary lay-offs there were across Canada?
Who knows? I hope things turn out good?
