Thread regarding Cummins Inc. layoffs

More RIF?

It looks certain that there will be more RIF in Q2, especially with CMEP being shut for 2 weeks at least. Are there any reports on this? Any number, the management has come down to? Things look ridiculously bad for the company. Any updates will be appreciated.

Good luck!

Q1 results statement from Tom Linebarger: "Given the significant impact the pandemic will have on demand across our industry in the second quarter and beyond, we are continuing to take actions to reduce cost..."
It would not be surprising if there is another RIF ahead.

All hourly, goddamn that is going to be nasty. I wonder how they will do it, at one time in each dept? Or they got the names as was stated and they will just call people into meetings and (will it be a layoff or a RIF aka firing) cut them and walk them out.

Most of the impact will be on hourly this time as they cut down production further.

If it's 30 percent as you may have heard, that will be a blood bath for sure. Is it all Salary or is it both Salary and hourly 30 percent. What I mean is that maybe 15% from Salary and 15% from hourly? either way it will be a slaughter for sure. For one if it's only salary, friend or no friend, family member or no family member or even husband to wife, it will be impossible for those other salary to protect their friends and love ones like they have done before. If it's hourly, just as bad. Because more than likely they will be using seniority in the dept. and if you have a dept. of 20 to 25 hourly this is a percentage that can take out many of the younger workers who are running around trying to impress.

Not to mention those exempt who was able to get out of the the last RIF may not be safe anymore this one. This is an extraordinary thing that is happening to this country and Cummins never seen this coming along with everyone else. This is liable to turn all those southern indiana work areas that are hot beds of Nepotism and alot of conflict of interest right on their heads. Get ready to see in the near future dirt coming out of cummins when those people are fired in the RIF.

And not to mention what the union contract will be like during the discussion this year.

Yes, I understand that names are being finalized for a RIF which will occur end of Q2. Latest guideline to HR from CLT is 30% across the board. This massively surpasses the 2K to 3K earlier proposed. Latest info from HR is that this action is currently being evaluated by Legal. Provided it meets their approval....expect a bloodbath on the way.

Cummins would never pass up an opportunity to purge American technical specialists where it could be lost in the overall news. Let them burn.
