I am getting conflicting reports from multiple sources and require elucidation. As a bona fide champion of retail's upper crust, my time is extremely constrained, so keep responses contrite yet accurate, while backing up with references.

As long as they dont get too dusty
completely, temporarily, for now. Will they be able to afford to open them later? Tune in next time on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous
Now all sears are closed completely
I dont know
It has happened.
Did more than one store close softlines?
Walmart, Costco, Target, none of them had to "rope off" softlines. It's just Eddie's excuse for not having money to support the business. He's been busy issuing Seritage stock to himself and ESL to desperately get some value out of it before it goes bankrupt too. It's been in breach of Warren Buffet's loan covenants for two quarters now, and he's going to end up owning all the real estate sooner rather than later.
More surprises to come, after the seventh, in addition to a surprise reckoning to occur that day itself?
It sure is refreshing to come across an intelligent post among this plethora of idle banter. And by a member of retail's upper crust no less ! I likewise have connections in retail, some quite impotent people. And from my grapevines, the 7th will be the day of reckoning.
I too am an impaled executive in retail's ruling echelon. I can only allow certain information out of my head. You are correct about the 7th. But let's just say that there are more surprises to come. There may be acquisitions in the works, or divestitures.
My store is limited to selling only essential goods as my city is ordered to "shelter in place" in NC. Staff are hoping to come back, but it's on the verge of collapse as a whole obviously.
Well kmart was taping down social distancing markers on the floors today. No sign of any impending closure there other than lack of merchandise.
Logical deduction is if Kmart is being kept open if Sears is closing or closing sections it's only by state lockdown orders.
Any other Sears only letting you enter only by appliances/tools?
@zgm+14beuNXz I went to a Meijer store yesterday, it's similar to a full line Walmart, here in Michigan which is in a lockdown situation. Softlines were not roped off.
My team of professional experts is performing deep dive analytics on the incoming data. All roads point to the 4/7 date. I have new source streams constantly going online, and my date will be adjusted if necessary.
If Sears had to rope off softlines, I am guessing stores like Walmart and Target had to also. I would think they'd bring appliances to the first floor, next to tools.
April 7 is my Wedding Anniversary.
Nice to see actual store execs posting here....will find out what i can and get back to you
We had to make the difficult decision of....
Where did news of of the April 7th date come? The store I'm at laid off all of softlines and most of the mpu associates, one cash room person and a few others. We were told this was only temporary, but they did not give us a return date.
The softlines area looks like a crime scene, roped off with caution tape. How absurd.
It’s going down
Yes.
