I work on the 737 line at Spirit Aerosystems.
So as we all know, Spirit Aerosystems Inc. closed its wichita facility on Wednesday for the duration on 2 weeks to combat COVID19.
What a great idea from Spirit Aerosystems to protect its employees and their family's
Thank you Spirit, or should I say, what a bulls__it idea to look good to the public and news organizations.
Update is this, 3 days into the shutdown, I just recieved a call by Spirit. They ordered me and all 737 line employees to report back to work monday morning.
Guess they really don't want to combat this epidemic OMG!!!

Im hearing this is due to the $1.5 billion dollar P-8 order. The navy just ordered 18 P-8's. Sorry to hear that Boeing and spirit don't value your lives enough to remain shut down. I think that's messed up

this is just some Calhoun accounting with the suppliers. If they restart the factory and then close it because of the virus, then it was an act of god and they get to s— gov't tit.
If they close it because their factory makes parts for a worthless product, then they just have a worthless factory. Welcome to 1985 err....2020, where manufacturing means you get paid to not make.
Final point is the crime. They are asking their workers to die for their greed. The factory is unsafe and reopening exposes workers and their families. But, no one will make that case against them. Enjoy the safety theater of unnecessary procedures to enter the building. This cant keep it from spreading or you safe.

Boeing should not be given any money, or LOW percentage loans , unless they give Us tax payers a slice of the millions upon millions of profits etc.
Why would Spirit order its employees back to work to produce fuselage assemblies if the Boeing factory plants are closed? There's no FAA approval on the horizon for the MAX program. Makes no sense.
