Co-worker of mine got an E-1 rating this past review cycle... wonder if they're going to carry that into next year's merit/raises or if they busted their hump for nothing... I think there should have been provisions for top performers, honestly. Truth is, when things rebound, they'll be the first to take the best jobs elsewhere and lower the overall Oxy employee standard.

E1, eh? Who wipes off your back?
I think I am paid decently.
Employee ratings are always “smoke & mirrors”... the same at Anadarko. More indicative of how well you kiss *ss more than anything else.
I think everyone busted their jump at Oxy, regardless of performance rating. Performance is very subjective at Oxy, with no real metrics ever real presented. At other companies I worked at, it was a lot more structured. So am “E” or “S” or even “N” really is not totally indicative of productivity. Be happy with your E though!
From personal experience is going to be clean slate again. What have you done for me lately is what counts, if one still manages to make it.
How do you get an E eating at Oxy?
I had an E as well and got a 30% cut in pay. In this case they want everyone to fill the pain. My bonus was nice, so that was the reward for the 2019 E rating. Oxy is not even thinking about next year at this point. Carl Icahn is going to wreak havoc on this company until things are sold off or the whole company is sold. There really is not a future here with him in the picture. Sorry for the negative response, but it is just the truth. Just watch and see.
When Icahn moved his company from New York to Florida if the employee did not move he fired them with no severance and said he would just not contest their unemployment. These were employees that made hundreds of thousand a year. If it was up to him he would cut a lot of us and give us nothing, but the unemployment line. I would not be out making large purchases if you are counting on Oxy as an employer.
Didn't happen last time (2015/2016). And as soon as the market recovered, people with talent bolted. Many people who Oxy overpays relative to their worth remain, which drags the average down.
Oxy has not shown any inclination to actually reward high performers. They just say that, while keeping the yes-men on staff. Rinse. Repeat.
Run when you can.
