Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Joe H - Smartest man alive?!?

Could this guy have played it any better? He gets fed up and is ready to move on...avoids the entire Coronavirus nightmare and will probably be a CEO somewhere major within the year. Amazing play.

Damn do I miss him. :(

@3cfa+14YmLkDG there is much more than that. High level explanation, they knowingly violated product development and manufacturing procedures. Timing asside, if you do something without applying the body of knowledge, sometimes you get lucky. They call it the 80/20 rule, but sometimes the 20 is much bigger and they underestimate it. There was too much optimism given the complexity of that vehicle line; not forgetting it was an all new platform.

Wasn't the botched launch mostly due to Hackett demanding a significantly reduced timeline?

Short answer: no. Long answer: He was the sacrifice for the botched Explorer/Aviator launch. True the people above him and below him are equal to blame; he is nonetheless accountable for that failure. I mean his background is manufacturing, think he was youngest plant manager ever at GM. If he couldn't see this poor launch coming a year in advance, shame on him. I don't feel sorry for him, he just didn't know how to play 4D chess.
