They waited for the only project in this team (LSC) to be delivered and then laid off everybody. Sh–tiest place I ever worked with, evil. Pure evil. But I think the guys were top notch and will find something soon. Go to Hell Intel.

wanting to move to San Diego i had driven by the Intel office there and thought going back to Intel might be an option to consider if it meant being able to relocate to that area. seeing this post, i’m glad I didn’t pursue that beyond an initial thought.
Ari’s new company Habana is hiring in Austin, good news for those who is ok to relocate from San Diego.
Actually most people they let go are grade 7 and 8 not PE. You should say this to have justification to put innocent families in financial insecurities in the midst of a covid-19 pandemic, while the company they worked for had the highest revenue in the history thanks to the same pandemic.
"Some hired as PE or above, but their capabilities and contribution don’t match their titles and compensations, they should let go."
First of all, there was one PE, one director and one Sr director so three people in the category you mentioned. Secondly, love to see a have reference as why you consider their capabilities did not match. Do we have a reference? Or you assume so? Or your tribal manager told you so? Have you seen the previous design that the new design replaced? Do you know what type of terrible design and uArch the previous design was? If you do have data, bring it on, otherwise shut the you know what up.
The way Intel works is based on who belongs to which tribe. Ari was removed from GPU so the San Diego site that he created was also gone since those poor remote workers did not have anyone in beautiful Folsom to vouch for. So they were left orphan, belonging to no existing tribes. That's what it is. Don't make up stuff ok?
What is DRA?
Some hired as PE or above, but their capabilities and contribution don’t match their titles and compensations, they should let go.
Management in my group got rid of ~32 people, and then gave themselves DRA's for saving that money!
Will the San Diego site be closed soon?
Not even 2 years. Those tribes in Folsom who have been in that jail city for all their life and attended the School of Sneakry will build a project to beat Nvidia's A100 in low cost geos......hahahaha
U can't believe my manager was asking me you think it'll work right right? Because he knew after Intel with his non existent skills, he won't get any jobs anywhere....lol
im sure jensen is quaking in his boots knowing intel is challenging CUDA/ampere with some low cost geo trash lol
This time the project only last 2 years
Evil company! Stay away!
It makes me sick, all the PR sh– about CSR and how everything’s so great during covid as they heartlessly lay off groups and move their work to lower cost geos.
Exactly. And we are talking about 27 people who worked on weekends to deliver an aggressive project timeline. Only after all tests passed and physical design was done, they laid them off. Like if they waited 7 more months for C19 to go away, it would make Intel broke. They just acted like a tribal slaughter. Stay away ladies and gentlemen.
The have sold a lot of laptops last quarter thanks to the pandemic and WFH situations and got huge revenue! Now they layoff 28 people during this situation for budget cut!!! Eliminating 28 salaries to help the company in that scale! And what was the package to help poor families in this uncertain situation?! 1 week per each year of service!!!! Stay away from this evil!
