Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Voting the EC out regardless of whether you are considering to take VSP. If we end up with the same upper management team, we are doomed. Notice how every emails are telling us that we are in this sh– only because of COVID-19, and our situation has nothing to the arrogant, ignorant, irresponsible, shameless, and unapologetic behavior. I don’t think VH was a bad person, but we can’t have a CEO that prefers surrounding herself with id–ts and pushes away people that actually bring their brains to work with them and care about the long term benefits of the company/shareholders/employees. Those that report to CEO should be extremely intelligent managers that know how to identify talents and place the right people in the right groups. Certain groups have way more impacts to the company as a whole than others. To give examples, BD, key development areas. Seriously look at some of these engineers and managers placed in BD and key areas, I know why we are in this mess. If we want to survive, we need to clean up all these “it’s about WHO you know, not about WHAT you know” cultures, and we need talented and ethical managers in the right places to make positive influences.

If we can have a new start after May 29th, I will do my part, however small it is, for the benefits of this company and everyone on board. All that stay should do the same and we may have a chance. It will also impact those that are leaving unless you think you will continue receiving payment after the company goes under bankruptcy. If we stay with the same management and #cultures... god helps us! There is no way we will get out of this until the management recognizes the fundamental problems.

I agree use your voting rights to remove the current EC. OXY’s culture of nepotism, cronyism, and lack of accountability is what VH has been involved with her entire career. OXY has leadership from the field to the senior levels that have been complete failures in previous positions but advanced solely because of the nepotism and cronyism culture.
The field and technical services have been decimated through buyouts and layoffs while additional levels of management have been added. If more cost savings are to be had, management needs to look no further than themselves, the time has come for management and leadership positions to see the same cuts as other areas of the company.
