@5ggb+14WY5cUS What would they contractually be allowed to do to those Adjusted R2s?
This s—s! I can’t imagine anyone who makes it through this rounds would just want to keep riding this wave...to much anxiety
Heard from my source in management (I'm DE in BCA) that layoffs will hit ALL R3's in our organization. We are going to be gutted. They were having skill team meetings last week to determine the fate of "adjusted" R2s (those people who's work didn't merit an R2 classification, but were granted it per contract because of seniority). There likely will be a second wave around September for additional DEs in R2.
Hate to bring you the bad news but DE's get hit 1st. No one is asking for airplanes. Last thing on anyone's mind is design modification, idk if you are Structures DE or payloads. Usually structure DE's get hit before payloads. Also the skill codes that are in danger of ILO managers are asking EIS forms or updated resumes because even in your retention rating you have a ranking. All R2s will be ranked from top to bottom. Last i was told by our manager was aprroximately 1200 engineers took VLO.
I’m not the poster who asked what you do but Structures people are very important on the mechanic side. Good structures people. Important enough to get retained by managers. I’m not one of them wish I was but it is an art that can’t be learned. Hope it is the same for engineering my friend.
@fca+14WY5cUS DE, BCA structural engineer Level 3
If you can tell just your job title, for example stress, DE , ME etc plus your level 1,2,3 ..5 and your skill code i may be able to get you some insight.
@kzk+14WY5cUS Sad thing is that it's most likely the same people doing this. Some people are very contemptuous and hateful individuals with a cold heart. All they try to do is put others down. Criticizing and opposing people who actually care.
@ptm+14WY5cUS Agreed! Some people would really like to just gain insight - no need to tear each other down....
Brothers, if any one has solid/ useful details, please share. We really do not need BS.
As of Monday May 18, 2020, all R2 will be reclassified as R3s. Most will be let go.
@nrm+14WY5cUS Retention ratings; union people are categorized 40/40/20 stack in every skill/job code R1 being the highest and R3 the lowest
R2 is the better half of D2
What exactly is a R2? What is the engineering pay scale like? How much do you make a year ?
