Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Taking advantage of the pandemic

While the country is going through rough times due to the pandemic, Altice upper management has found a way take advantage of the situation. They layoff employees even though routes are booked, and asking to stay late to pick up work is a common occurrence. Now they change your shift without notice. They know that we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Where are we going to go? Who is hiring during these times? I wonder if the union shops have to change shifts also? Please someone from a union shop answer this for me! And my final question (even though he would never see this) is to the previous owner Mr. Dolan. During the end you sent out emails to the employees stating how much you appreciated the hard work we put in for you and how selling the company was the best for our future. I ask did you do your research on who you were selling to? How the ownership could care less about his employees?! His reputation was well known in those regards. But hey I guess since he is down with the billionaire club, it doesn’t matter. B.a.u!

My guess is that Altice will get rid of all in-house techs soon and go with contractors as they have started in WV. The contractor is trying to rehire the techs at a severe reduction in wages and no benefits, along with working 6 days a week 10-12hr shifts.

I can tell you in 76, an email was sent about a shift bid. When and if it happens....only the man upstairs knows. Yes, it's a union shop
