While thousands of associates are furloughed, Staples announced the promotion of Amit Karla to Chief SC officer.
Most associates haven’t been paid their 2019 bonus, no one has received their merit increase but they promote at that level is not only ridiculous, it is a big SLAP in the face of those working and/or furloughed without any additional compensation.
Once again, Tom Stemberg is rolling in his grave.
AK is no leader. If you disagree with him you’re let go. He’s a bully pure and simple. Respect is earned, a concept that most SLT folks do not understand or care about. See RVP PM being let go as the perfect example. PM was one of the last great leaders.
What supply chain?? hahaha...have you been in a store recently? the shelves are literally empty...if he has been doing this job for a year now without the title and this is the state that we are in I can see exactly why they promoted him officially!!! Very typical of SLT staff to just move anothe useless person into a role because "why"? Sandy's video blogs are b—s—, emoting false empathy and telling us we will come out stronger is just c-ap. He, along with the other members of SLT, who are all probably looking for new jobs in a company that will survive do not give one iota of sh– about any of the people that got fired, laid off or furloughed. Its about them all making as much $$ as possible before the doors close.
Stop focusing on what this man received for promotion and his load of work. The question is ‘can he lead’ then entire supply chain? Does he have what it takes? I’m not convinced he does! Sandy found nobody to fill the role hence ... well! Good luck Supply Chain! The roller coaster ride is just beginning, have fun!
Must be nice to get promoted during this time. Hope he/she is taking a pay cut. While a bunch of us who got furloughed 100% are getting denied with unemployment.
It's not a promotion since he was interim.... it's just official now which he did work for over the past year. It would have been him or someone else would have been hired. This announcement changed nothing on the number of the SLT. If there is no one to lead supply chain a lot more jobs would be lost because they would probably outsource....
What they should have done is make him take on the extra work WITHOUT a promotion! That’s what they do at lower levels (when they aren’t laying them off that is). They tell us we need to do the work, earn the promotion and if you’re lucky you may get a bump up in 2-3 years

You must have been one who received their bonus....it is wrong- at any level. Take it from one who worked extremely hard for the company for years, and was not treated fairly. There are literally more than a thousand of us between 2019 and 2020 who were furloughed or termed and got nothing.
WTF are you talking about? The company needs a Chief Supply Chain Officer. They filled a much needed role from within. Good for them.
