Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

Good riddance

I’ve noticed people come here to b and m about being laid off but honestly...of everyone who got let go in the last round, I can’t say that I wouldn’t have chosen the same ones if I were in charge of the company. They were either old/too expensive or younger and weren’t willing to put the company’s objectives first (they wanted work/life balance). Yes, MRO puts the latter on recruitment posters and what not but they don’t pay you to have work/life balance—that’s why upper level employees are in their 40s and JUST now having a kid to check that box.

Sad to see some go but, in all honesty, this company isn’t for some of them because their entire lives revolve around MRO and their home lives had started to break down, at least one (that I know of) to the point of disrepair—last I heard he was in the middle of divorce when he got laid off. Svcks for him but I hope he learned his lesson: one can always find another job, but your family isn’t replaceable.

You little POS. Over 200 years of experience were let go in April. Most were very hard workers. Of the bunch left, most are lazy, don’t know what the hell they are doing or too interested in keeping their heads/bodies up supervisors or managers asses. Just sayin!

Might be able to get the land director to leave if you give her free Harley oil changes for life

TBH I was disappointed I didn’t get laid off... They should have asked for volunteers.

Just proves what quality of workers are left at MRO and these workers were selected to continue their work.....
They laid off all the good/hard working ones and left the incompetent ones.....
And there are a handful that should have been let go and surprisingly they still have a job?

There are some solid writers on this site. Between the grammar and the lack of spell check, someone must think there are a bunch of id–ts working at this company.

Frankly, more supervisors, managers, directors, and VPs should have been let go. MRO is too top heavy.

You're an id–t and a tool. If you think anybody BUT incompetent execs (and their yes-men managers) are to blame then you are part of the problem. Instead of making business decisions that would enrich the company and the employees, they chose to enrich themselves at the expense of everybody else.

What an ignorant comment. Not to mention it is contradictory also.
