Thread regarding Avid Technology Inc. layoffs

Layoffs, Furloughs, Building Closures and Consolidation, no concern for employees during COVID

A spiraling disaster. No innovation or game changing new products. Continued decline in revenue. Awful customer support. Products full of reliability issues and bugs. We used to design our own k–ler products. Now we buy poor quality 3rd party products and stick our label on them and claim we have come out with a new product. Employees either going through the motions waiting to retire or looking for new jobs. Awful benefits. Benefits keep getting worse and costing employees more out of pocket. We once occupied 3 large buildings in Burlington. Now only 1 of those buildings. Any guess what happened to the other 2 buildings? They were emptied and shut down along with the employees who occupied them. It has been a slow, painful continual deterioration. Give it a year or 2 and it will be a 1/2 or no building at all. Cannot attract tier 1 talent, not even tier 2 talent. Unless they are desperate people are not looking for employment here. In fact most hope to get out. Barely surviving (and only surviving due to what was once a stellar brand name). No support for employees during COVID crisis. Empty words from the CEO and executive team. They are sweating it out to hold on to their extremely over paid jobs (which they are very aware of). The #1 priority of the CEO and executive team is to (at any cost) drive up the stock price, cash out, continue to collect their ridiculous pay as long as they can. Board of directors is even more incompetent than the executive staff (which is actually quite difficult to do). Layoffs are the norm. Long tenured employees mean nothing. Unless they are good pals with someone who has a pal on the executive staff. Show them the door. Anything to drive the stock price up so the executives can cash in. An executive staff and management team who can look you directly in the eye and with zero remorse flat out lie to customers and employees. Ethics = zero. Look out for #1 is the motto. The higher up the management chain, the better the “executive” can deliver wads of BS and empty words with no content or truth. The chairman of the board is from a financial institution who has invested in Avid. They try to put a twist on it and claim he knows the media industry. He doesn’t, nor does he have any technical engineering skills nor does he understand the development and design process required to develop the types of products Avid once delivered. For that fact, neither does anyone on the “Board” or Executive staff. Seems that skill set should be a requirement for someone..... anyone on either the executive staff or board of directors. We need an executive staff and board of directors with numerous entities who truly understand technology, innovation and deep knowledge of product development. Right now we have zero on either the executive staff or BOD. They think they do because they are so full of themselves, but they have zero understanding. All the C-level execs, VP’s, senior directors are just your typical babbling grinning id–ts who never shut up because they like to hear themselves speak. It’s been so old for 3 years, honestly, no more like 10. The only good thing the board has done was to finally wake up (it took them what 4-5 years) and fire the previous CEO Hernandez for s-xually harassing women. The whole company knew what was going on including multiple people currently on the executive staff who chose to put their tails between their legs rather than calling Hernandez out for fear of losing their high-paying cushy jon5 they weren’t going to get anywhere else. Thank goodness those women finally brought it to light. This is a dirty organization with no morals headed for bankruptcy and / or sell off.
