As I stated before, some of these responses have zero idea what they’re talking about. Perfect example below from one jealous rep.

Techs are the problem with this company, they miss appointments and tag doors and run. It starts with customer service. Better check your confidence at the door son.

A lot of the comments here are clearly from people who have zero idea what they are talking about. I’m a prior Verizon tech and these comments are a joke. We’ve been busting our asses trying to keep this company afloat. The equipment and management decisions have been a disaster. Techs can only do so much when so many errors have been made on the part of management. It’s not local managers either, most are great, it’s higher. Downvote this all you want. The truth hurts.

No matter how much you want to blame the techs for their role in this, and it is considerable. The ultimate responsibility lies with management. If you accept this behavior, and refuse to hold techs accountable for standards, this is what you get. Yes it requires more work and follow thru to document and coach union techs, but it can still be done. When your supervisors and middle management are as lazy ad the techs, the problem escalates. Why arent middle level and regionals holding their folks accountable? Why arent directors and VPs holding their reports accountable? And in turn...why isnt executive leadership holding people accountsble? Its a question of culture being created and re-inforced....it starts at the top....

Folks, the center in Tampa is not closing. In fact, I’ll be hiring 100 new sales reps shortly. The only other changes is that we will be working with more contractors for field tech positions. The sale of the NW really gave us a shot in the arm. Don’t let these negative techs drag you down to their level. Good things are in store for Frontier!

This place is in existence due to the government hand outs its received like CAF. The former CEO had a degree from the University of Phoenix, I'd say anyone that is smart that realizes that gets out immediately. The current CEO stepped in at the worst possible time and has not done a single thing to institute change much less even shown his face. The former CFO went to a direct competitor (Cox) without anyone batting an eye. The Chief Transformation Officer has been brought back out of retirement twice, has no proven record of success since working with Bain has now left them bankrupt. I could go on and on, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that anyone that works here still is completely foolish, if they are smart, they arent showing it by working for Frontier. The only people that are smart to stay at Frontier are the VPs that are a part of the good ol boys club that are untouchable, still getting those bonus checks, and dont have any direct reports because they couldnt get away with it anywhere else.

Why leave now, stay and watch the train wreck. If all the smart employees left years ago this place wouldn't be in existence today.

Smart employees that still come to work and give a damn about their job is only reason this place hasn't closed the doors.

I know the investors at Blackrock financial love reading this stuff, so keep posting it. Can't wait to share this at the next share holders meeting.

Some really positive attitudes here from what sound like current employees. Anyone ever heard if you dont like it leave? Why would you stay with a company that just filed bankruptcy and is dealing with all of these issues? Do you expect it to change? If it does change how quick to you expect to see change? Do you have other job skills you can possess? Will you be able to retire before the company is completely under water? These are the questions that the smart, capable employee asked themselves 3-5 years ago before they left. I expect nothing less though from those who rely on the unions to guide them through this as if they have any chance.

And how has Frontier not been able to make certain that a field order is provisioned correctly and if the services are available for said customer. Absolute waste of time for field techs and in house supports groups to take chances on what will work and what will not work in reference to tickets sent to operations.

Techs and reps tell their manager "hey this isn't going to work for the customer" managements reply " do the best that you can do",,,,, well if I do nothing I'll get the same results as if I do the best that I can do with the tools and resources we've been given.

Well I have seen the best of techs be broken by the Frontier micro managing and that is the reason for bad attitudes inbthe field. Keep telling them they are incompetent and eventually they will give up and do as they are instructed even if the instructions are nonsense.

Lack of technology upgrades and management that is oblivious to the changing times is what k–led Frontier.

Frontier is like a used car lot selling old c-ap no one wants.

What is there to be jealous of a technician? They have obviously had a large role in the failure of the company, they take advantage of being out of sight of management to sit in their trucks and not work, they are overpaid, there are constant reports of techs leaving door tags that a customer wasnt home when they were waiting all day, their repeat rates for dispatching on the same issues is through the roof in most areas. Being jealous of a Frontier Technician isnt possible, a Verizon tech-that would make sense. All of these posts dont get drawn up out of thin air, techs are the face of the company and have destroyed the reputation of providing quality service for the most important part of the business, the customer.

Incompetent management destroyed this place. They even admitted to it in their bankruptcy filing.
The truth is , they don’t care. Golden parachutes.

Techs single handedly destroyed this company. Every other install is a no call/no show. If they do show it is just to stick a note on the door saying the customer wasnt home when they clearly were. Overpaid, entitled, and have no idea how you have to actually work and be held accountable in a real job without the union to back up your complete lack of professionalism. The union doesn't have a leg to stand on now, they don't even have a contract. Let's see how this all shakes out now.

I did a ride a long with a tech 5 years ago. No joke, we took an hour break for breakfast, 2 hour lunch, and an hour break in the afternoon. I thought I was being set up it was so blatant. The tech said he had the same routine everyday. It was crazy. I knew right then that this company was going to go under.

At least the contractors can easily be "let go" the union tech can take 1.5hrs of lunch, park at a site after their last job for overtime and the union will defend this guy that probably has 5-9 infractions against him. But again some mgmt let this behavior go because they were also lazy techs before their "promotion."

Spectrum is a real company. They are eliminating all contractors and paying techs $20/hr!

Contractors tend to outperform regular techs on installations. They understand they are not entitled to a job. Maintenance is where you run into trouble as contractors typically do not have the background or knowledge to trouble, shoot network elements. You need a good local manager who follows up on his employees to make sure they have the knowledge and skills, and are held accountable, without a good frontline supervisor, you are not going to have any quality standards or job performance

How would contractors make it any worse than it already is? Obviously the downvotes are union rats that will say anything in hopes to save their jobs. Nobody has sympathy for Frontier employees at this point, the ship has sailed and if your still riding with a company that is trending in the direction of a 2nd bankruptcy already after just filing their first, you are as dumb as Bernie Han. Contractors would be the best operating decision they could make right now, a bankruptcy judge should not need to tell them that. All signs are clearly pointing to selling properties to take any offer and eliminating union workforce which is bleeding the economy at this point in time. Your disagreement does not change the facts and your jobs will be eliminated, time to find some motivation to do some actual work and not ride the gravy train of protection. The only hope some areas have is that a naive DSL provider will offer to purchase Frontier territory for half the face value LOL

Contractors, yeah, half of much pay but half the amount of knowledge. As they take double the amount of time with awful end results and more P'od customers. Yup, anyone could do this work, right?

We wouldn’t have to sell anything if Frontier could just replace the techs with contractors. Contractors do twice the work for 1/2 the pay.
