To RIF or not to RIF

Time to see what cummins will do sales continually decline, as well as orders. RIF is inevitable

Actually they are saying it's re initiating rather than getting reinfected. So the people are having this virus still in their body and it decides to restart the whole thing all over again. That news have been kept very very far in left field even though it was talked about and researched back in January. The fear that we can't get rid of this, let alone if it mutates which some are saying it's already happening. And then add to the fact that these people who are "cured" we don't know what longterm problems they will have medically.

Hmm ya thats true world news suggest that corona virus keeps having reinfections. So the best course of actions would be to figure out a way to live with it that way we can reopen things somewhat. Unfortunatly the fear is running rapid right now.

I can appreciate should never let let a company control your path but thats not what going on here. Layoffs are coming, theirs nothing wrong with waiting. If it turns out things arnt going that direction ofcourse I'll deuce out but I'm not gonna shortchange myself if i dont half to. If you dont like seeing people vent freind maybe you shouldnt go on a layoff feed. And that's assuming what you say is true you position suggest your supportive of cummins hard to say what your true intention is.

There is nothing stopping you from moving to your bright future now. If you are waiting for Cummins to make that decision for you, you have to ask yourself if you truly have a bright future.. Take control of your life and move on if you truly don't like it. I did and it was the best choice of my career.. Never let a company control your future..

Sounds great I hope that shareholders meaning is quite the bombshell, the sooner things happen the sooner those of us with a brighter future can move on.

Rif Fury your spot on. You have managers that managed to wash my hand and I wash yours for decades and should have been let go 5 years into their time with cummins let alone been there for at least 29 years. You see I think this time it's truly different. You see they or most of the world and definitely the US and her economy didn't see this virus thing come and do as much damage it has done. The shareholder meeting is going to be one of cut costs, cut costs, cut costs. Even if all of a sudden the day after the shareholder meeting everything ramps back to normal (and that isn't going to happen) Cummins is going to be conservative and they will essentially sc-ap this year. Essentially make it a year of how lean they can make it just to maintain.

You may say they will lose managers or engineers, so what. The ones there will have to do double duty or triple duty and they will just put more work on the level 5's and more on the level 4's. Remember as of Friday half of the working population is unemployed right now, it's not like those same managers and engineers who leave because it's getting rougher will find a better place. So the company will RIF and as I said before many of those men and women as you said and others who where able to keep their jobs by family, or knowing a relative that has a job or one of the managers liking them won't work this time.

Even middle management isn't feeling too safe now and they may be looking for a way out with a package. Not to mention I believe this is the year for the OCU contract. They will be hard pressed to keep any benefits they got now in the contract. Hourly on 36 hour weeks and no overtime. Management and engineers taking a 20% cut. And this was back in late Feb and Early March.

They just don't know if this is the end (which it isn't) or just the beginning of more trouble for us medically from the virus and also the economy.

Amen to that sister, mine told me he has no idea what my job is and hes been with the company for 29 years, and he still trying to make calls on things I should do knowing this. As much as they want to screw with us when the layoffs come theirs no string they can pull to make things worse and likely they may go to. If they somehow stay than cummins really enjoys having the same issues over and over but theyd have a better time with a tv drama series less money that way, would mention cost of team morale to but know they don't care about that. Those are just sound bites to look good in from of their shareholders.

I have been with Cummins for 5yrs they will take the bail out money and then lay-off . Managers need to go very unprofessional I have to deal with these r—ds everyday. Can’t wait for this roller coaster to be over .

I think we are going to have a RIF definitely if it's going to be on what they discuss at the shareholder meeting on the 12th (next tuesday). Remember CMEP aka Walesboro is still shutdown, how much money is made daily selling those engines 7 days a week 24 hours a day. That tells me that the companies that we have contracts with (big ones) are either still shutdown, have an oversupply of the engines and/or they aren't seeing the same sales as they where months ago and so they aren't needing engines.

Remember that and other plants make money for us. I know that SEP is supposed to be open but I heard that not all the cells are being utilized and I wonder if they are at full production for them? Also as for the people who are at home thinking they are save, look out. Unless your a VP or the CEO himself, your not safe even being home. If you don't think that they aren't studying if they need all those engineers and/or managers of this and that to operate those buildings and running the operations you have another thing coming.

Because if they can push more work on the level 5's and have the level 4's doing a little bit more. They can have one engineer in charge of alot more cells and have less managers and definitely they won't need all those positions in the office. If I was the office staff and exempt, look out.

Hard to say cummins currently dragging their feet and leaving everyone in the dark. Not 100 percent i think theirs an annual shareholder meeting on May 12th. If they are beholden to those shareholders as ive heard we should see some layoffs in the next couple months. But as mentioned anything can happen will half to wait and see what the future holds for us.
