If we get laid off, is there really anything they will do if we don’t turn in the phone and computer. I mean Im sure they try to scare you but is there anything they will actually do?

A fair amount of software on my laptop would not run without online connection to Halliburton IT licensing. You could reinstall the operating system to use the hardware.
It is their property...why would you want to keep it?
Relax. It’s HR trying to revenge because of the other HR related negative thread.
Is I really worth it? Geesh, I can think of many more things worth fighting for.
Having seen the inside of several HAL IT offices, they are so disorganized/messy that you could probably just tell them you sent it in and they will assume they lost it. I've actually had them lose several from former employees that I turned in.
If you got a severance package the last page says that you have to return all equipment and not to sign it til you do so. It’s a condition. Although HR told me don’t worry about the badge unless you have some way to turn it in. They’ve already turned them off. I have an expensive PC I have to get back to them next week. Oh and I’ve been researching it. They can’t withhold your last paycheck for equipment, but it all depends on the employment laws in your state.
Not a whole lot, but they will probably wait to issue your final pay check until they get it back. So they can take the $2k out of your check.
